I need to be back to work tomorrow but the storm of the century is going on all up and down the coast. My windshield wipers are all messed up though and I never know when they'll work or be terrible so I'm uncomfortable using them. Kate is going back to LA tomorrow so if I have any chance of seeing her it must be today. The guy at the shop said that if I bring the car in right now, at 9 in the morning, there is a 90% chance it will get done by the end of the day but no promises. Then I still have the four hour drive which will, undoubtedly, be complicated by the weather. I had a dream last night that I was with Kate finally and we were interrupted by the interns who asked if we wanted to order food. Time was already tight because I had to go to work soon but now there were these people there ordering food and waiting for it. One of them gave me some beef and carrot dish and I ate it because it was all a wash anyway.
Growing up I had three real friends that I relied on. This is over the course of my entire life, mind you. From kindergarten to junior high I had Casey and Steven. Steven went to a different high school and sort of removed himself from the world in a few different ways. Casey and I remained good friends and are still good friends to this day. In High School I made friends with Adam. He's the single most responsible person I know and I'm positive he's learned to do a bunch of things for the sole purpose that someday someone might need someone that can do those things. He, personally, has little use for his knowledge because a lot of it is very distant from his engineering degree but he learned it for a reason. So these are the core friends that I've had growing up. They are all getting married in a three month window. Casey in June, Steven in July, Adam in August. Too bad Casey and Steven aren't switched. There seems to be a bit of aliteration with the -y and -n sounds. Anyway, there are a lot of people getting married. I guess a bunch of people from my high school class that I didn't know but that are friends with my friends are getting married too. Brian's sister, Rachel, is getting married. Leslie's friend Susan is getting married. Brian's ex, Mary, got married. Deborah got Married. Brett is getting married. My cousin Rick got married to a woman he met online and spent a month with. My brother got married less than a year ago and was surrounded by the weddings of a few of his friends. Leslie posed this question to me a few days ago: If the average projected age to get married has gone up to late 20s-early 30s, why are all of our friends getting married right now? My guess is that they are in love.
