missed opportunities
I just found out that I missed John Cusack on late night television on Friday by virtue of tuning into the wrong show! Ahaha! I'msuchadork! And Robbie's Leno and Kilborn appearances are bumped to next week (May 12 and 13 respectively) so I'll have to be patient just a bit longer. I hope Kilborn will interview him because they have the potential to be very cheeky together.
I made pasta salad for the first time on Saturday. It was a huge success. This bodes well for future pasta salad endeavors as I printed off about 10 recipes to try out. It's part of my "eat better, you moron" plan (she says with root beer and cookies beside her. ha!) as well as infusing the family dinners with something other than meat & potato staples.
Then da sis came over and we sat on the front porch with candles, Das Hip playing on the stereo and drank some al-kee-hol and chatted until it got too dark and chilly. She also spent the night and so this morning we had a big brunch of cinnamon french toast and bacon for a very early Mother's Day celebration as mom will be out of town next weekend.
After brunch, it became--and continues to be--a very relaxing day. I went out on the back deck with my pants rolled up and Bill Bryson's In a Sunburned Country in my hand and got some sun. Not the best idea for a fair skin girl such as myself as I'm now sporting some lovely red splotches down my leg, but it felt good at the time. I have a feeling I'll have to be completely covered up in Australia because I do nothing but burn. Feh.
The next few weekends are going to be fun. I'm hoping to see Connie this Saturday and the weekend after that is the highly anticipated sparkly_cons in Toronto! Woot! Good times, they are a coming.
