Okay, lets face it. I dont update this thing at all. Ever. Quite the contrast from 2003-2004. But then again, that was 3-4 years ago, which alone is crazy.
At this point in my life last year, i was a wreck. I was all over the place, confused, and the Kristin situation would just not die, after it was starting to. So i made a bold claim, that 2006 would be the year of the Joe.
...I was right.
I really can not, for the life of me, complain about 2006. I met some awesome girls, made some awesome new friends, and just had an insane amount of fun. I also learned that the less I care about anything, the more fun i have. So, as is kinda tradition, lets go over 2006, as best as i can from memory anyways.
January started off a little rocky. Because Kristin got dumped by that shitty stoner kid, and therefore needed me to talk to her, and fix her, I ended up not completely getting over her. So i hung out with her and stuff, and it probably wasn't such a good idea. In fact, it wasn't until August that we decided to stop talking to each other completely. Like 100% cut off, save for a chance meeting here or there on campus, and the occaisional phone call. But up until then, we just kept fucking each other up. We'd have feelings for each other, then we wouldn't, then we'd hook up, then we'd be friends, then we shouldn't talk anymore, etc..Bottom line? By the end of 2006, she's kinda fucking up her life (in my opinion, as ive heard through her friends) and I'm still not talking to her really, and its okay. I mean, i'll always miss her, she was my friend for a decade you know. Oh well.
So February until April was pretty much me just doing well in school, seeing Kristin now and then, and doing a lot more hanging out with the 'Rattlesnakes crew' Sam, Ritz, and Book, added in with Jeff, Kayed, Jay, and Steve Bajak made for some fun times. And then Leanne and I really started hanging out a lot. Like almost everyday a lot. I dont know how that happened, but it did, and i started getting some serious feelings for her. I think she got them for me too. In fact, I was pretty sure that if i asked her out, we would've dated, and we might still even be dating right now. I had so much fun with her, and i fucked that up because of the chance of getting back with Kristin had me all fucked up. I really ruined that with Leanne, and i regret it a lot.
May hit, so it was summer time. The Sabres were FLYING. I had my Cinco de My House party which was the first game of the Ottawa series, where we won 7-6 in OT. I love Tim Connolly. The Sabres ride really made me pumped, and being around work at the time was electric. I love my job. When we lost to Carolina, i wanted to cry and die. I also knew it was time to kill our mascot, the burro.
So July hits. I turn 22 and for the first time in 6 years, i didnt go to john's grandma's on my birthday. I dont even know why! I think that was God's doing, which ill get into in a little bit. Cottage time hits and i have just the best cottage ive had in a long time. The Bash was fun, though smaller due to the delay because of the rain. I just enjoyed my time there. I was alive. And i loved it. Especially the drinking games with Lisa and her friends. haha. Making my sister do Tequila shots was the best. We did have a fire where we sacrificed the burro, in hopes that the next hockey season, the Sabres would do better. So far, it seems to be working. The best part of the month is the first time Sam, the Books, Ritz, Jeff, and etc went to Mickey Rats for my first ever Hit N Run concert. They are the best band ever, and i mustve gone to like 15 concerts the rest of the year. They were a big plus in '06.
August rolls around and i start school again. It was also playoff time for hockey. Sundays the Snakes made it to the B championship to lose to Tom Hughes and the BullDogs. Mondays and Thursdays the Knockaround Guys made it to the semi-finals both times to lose before the championship game. And yet again, the Regulators blew it on Tuesdays. Ugh. On the plus side though, the Regulators played in the King of the Hill tournament and surprised everyone. We beat Team Caution, and ended up losing to the Rusty Trombones 2-1, which i scored a nice goal in that game. Jim Siler scored to tie it at 2 late in the game but terrible reffing by Kingston had everyone in the building say we got robbed when he took the goal away. I dont even want to get into it.
So in september i meet Jason Leisten. Well, ive known who he was for a while now, but he started playing with us on Tuesdays. So we started hanging out. A lot. And since then he's become one of my best friends. We used to go out every Wednesday night and we'd play darts and just have a great time. That was a good pickup. However, this month is known for when i was introduce to the best game in the history of games, Guitar Hero. I played this masterpiece at the Book's house, and while i sucked at it, i loved it. This led into them getting Guitar Hero II in November, and in between i bought the first game, and soon after i got the second. I love this game to death. Its amazing.
So in October nothing of great note happened. I got season tickets to the Bills and went to the games with Kayed, Sam, and Ritz, and it was just a happy special time. I even went to Detroit for a Bills-Sabres weekend, as we watch the Sabres beat the Wings in Joe Louis Arena on the 13th, then watched the Bills lose to Detroit 13-10 two days later. I had a great time in downtown Detroit though, as on the 14th, the Tigers won the pennant, and it was just an awesome time. I couldve gone to see Ohio State beat up on Michigan State, but Ian is just shitty, and kinda brought the trip down, as he tends to do with things. Craig was game, and Tony is always up for whatever we tell him, haha, so whatever. I still had fun regardless. Especially watching Scrubs on caption in the one bar. Thats another plus of the year, Scrubs. I never realized how great that show is until i started watching it a lot. Man, im glad it exists.
So on Halloween, i was at Big Shotz with Leisten, as his then girlfriend Dana was the DJ. I'm hanging out, fake DJing, when i notice Kate Godwin hanging out. Shes the younger sister of John, to which most of you know ive been friends with since i was a year and half old. So i go over and say whats up, and shes there with this guy Dave and her cousin Kristen. First thought i had was "Kristen is pretty hot, i should get to know her". So i said Hi and whatnot, and we took at picture, and that was that. I watched Kristen dance, as shes very crazy when she dances, and she noticed me watching from the DJ booth. I just shook my head in a "you're a crazy girl, and you love the attention" way, with a smile, and it was funny. They ended up leaving, and i left like 20 minutes after they did. I went home, parked the car, and started walking in the driveway when i heard Kate yell over to me from her house. Apparently, she took the extreme long way home from the bar, and Kristen drove her. So i ran over, said hi again, and we did a group hug thing or something. The next day, i was myspace friends with Kristen, and we talked back and forth, setting up a day to go out. I ended up meeting her downtown two weeks later (it shouldve been the next weekend, but i had to work...gay) and we had fun. She started to come over my house to hang out inbetween her classes (as i was home from mine by the time she came over, or i didnt have class those days) and we went and did things together...and then we started dating. Things moved super fast in the beginning, and we realized it, and slowed it down before we ended up crashing or something. But we've been dating since December 8th, and its been fun time since then. She's beautiful, she's incredibly smart, shes a very driven person, and she makes me happy. On top of it all, she's made me want to grow up. I'm graduating college in May, and i'm in the process of getting a sweet Geico job that starts Feb. 5th. I'm paying off my small debts, and im getting ready to move out on my own. Its weird, but ive wanted to do this for a while now. She's just the catalyst that i needed. She's an amazing person, and I'm glad that I met her.
So that was pretty much it for 2006. I had a ton of fun, the cottage was awesome, i had a great time with all of my friends, hit n run was introduced, as was Guitar Hero, i got over Kristin and stopped talking to her, i found a new Kristen, and she's awesome, and most of all im actually happy. Its a great feeling.
Peace out.
Dogbert.
