I don't feel like 2011 has been off to a very good start.

NYE was a mess. The windshield wipers on my car are broken, the light bulb in my room has blown and I singed a hole into my coat with the fireworks.

I'm not sure whether P. and I are okay. He hasn't been online, didn't make it to NYE and has been uncharacteristically tepid in his text messages.

This morning, I got up at 7 to pick Martin and Vicky up at the train station and take them to the psych hospital. After a talk with the psychologist on call, Vicky finally gave in and agreed to be admitted. We hung around until noon, sat with her through three different in-take conversations with nurses and doctors, and got her settled in her room. Then I dropped Martin off at the train station and went home. He was going to come back in the afternoon to bring her some clothes and books, and I'll drop by tomorrow during visiting hours to see how she's doing. I kept telling her it can't get much worse than it has been - let's hope I'm right, and she starts to feel better.

Then I got back home to realize that my Internet was out again. It crapped out on me yesterday afternoon, came back briefly this morning, and was gone again when I came home. I used the time to do some studying, but when I finally managed to get back online tonight, I had an email from one of the schools I applied to in my inbox. Apparently, things are missing from my application. I tried to call them back but couldn't get through until just half an hour ago. For one thing, they claim that I did not send in any original-language transcripts. I find this really hard to believe, after all of the trouble I went through to get original language transcripts. But of course, I didn't keep any of my check-lists, so I can't double-check now to make sure. This means that I have to start all over again. And I may not even get to do that until next week, because I'm pretty sure the administration office is still closed this week. Which is especially perfect given that I was told to send the missing documents in ASAP, preferably yesterday. For another thing, they want transcripts from Regensburg. I'd listed Regensburg as an institution I attended, but not included transcripts, mainly because there's no record to speak of: I only passed three classes the first semester, and none at all the second. That whole year was a disaster, I was barely holding together the first semester and a complete mess the second. I guess I figured, at the time, that by running away to BT and starting over I could make believe that Regensburg never happened. But now I am actually asked to procure documentation that it did happen. I have no idea if Regensburg even has a transcript from me. I probably won't be able to get a hold of them to find out until next week, either. And if they do, I have no idea how I'll explain the bad grades and the failed classes. I was raped, lost my mind and slipped into a permanent dissociative state?

So, considering the year's only three days old, it's already amassed a lot of fail.
