About LA.

I wasn't so into LA. We weren't there for long, though - everything wasa bit of a rush and the day spent at the Getty Centre was a bit of a let down after taking 3 hours to get there and subsequently 3 hours back... Having completely mastered the metro which is very much the same as the tube, we went to Hollywood boulevard late in the evening on the first day, which was alright the weather was hotter by then (for most of our time in LA and San Francisco the weather wasn't so great; cloudy, overcast, windy... which is supposedly unusual at the moment). I enjoyed walking round Downtown, which really was 'down'... run-down. The fashion district was fun to scour, though I had been expecting Prada and Gucci not a dodgy hispanic market.

The Greyhound from LV to LA was fine, about 5 hours, maybe 4 as we got off at the stop before LA, about an hour before as we stayed at a family friend's house in Claremont. Unfortunately this meant it was a bit of a jaunt each day in and out whic hate into out already very short time there. Mel and Beth are friends of Phil's mum, back from when his parents went travelling in their twenties. They were great hosts, providing us with lots of information! I'd completely forgotten the hollywood and universal studios stuff was in LA though otherwise I'd have allocated us more time there. It didn't feel like we were there for long enough at all.

I didn't feel I got many good shots of anything much in LA or SF. My favourite photos in the few overcast days out were of Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall, so I'll post them again just for the record.

Even phil managed to get a good shot of me! A first!
