Just saw The National two nights ago and I have to say it's one of the best shows I've seen this year. The way they just build up tension in a set that's finally let loose in some of their more upbeat numbers is incredible. Surprised to see that the singer wore a three-piece suit throughout the entire concert. They had two opening acts. The first one sucked but the second one wasn't bad. The singer had a really great voice with one of the strongest falsettos I've ever heard.
As for The National, they took the stage at 10:30 and played for an hour thirty. They played pretty much all of their new album, High Violet, which made me very happy. The best part though was the one-two punch of "Mr. November" and "Terrible Love."

Today I've got a low key band practice at my house, followed tomorrow" by a St. Vincent concert in Central Park. My first show with press passes so it should be awesome.
Day 05 - Your Favorite Quote
Most of my favorite quotes come from song lyrics so for today, I'm just going to post the lyrics to Radiohead's "Pyramid Song." They are simply beautiful, especially when played over a slow piano piece and string instruments.
"i jumped in the river and what did I see?
black-eyed angels swimming with me
a moon full of stars and astral cars
all the figures i used to see
all my lovers were there with me
all my past and futures
and we all went to heaven in a little row boat
there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt"
