I thought that working at the front of my college would be great because it'll speed up the process of getting to know everyone. Well, it definately did speed up the process. It sped it up so fast that I'm sick of seeing everyone. It gave me the opportunity to realize that a lot of the students that attend college are idiots. Their incapable of following up with information and accomplishing a simple task. Registration day was yesterday and it ran a lot smoother than the previous quarters I've worked during. Today was absolutely worse than confirmation day. Students come into the front or irritatingly call to harrass the employees for their problems such as not having a schedule or not having financial aid. When we guide them through the process, they argue because everything is taking so long.
#1: You will not have a schedule if:
a. you don't register for the "semester",
b. you don't see an advisor to sign up for classes, or
c. you don't turn in a school application.
#2: You will not have financial assistance if:
a. you don't fill out the necessary papers,
b. you do not see a financial aide advisor, or
c. you don't bring the necessary documents that you were advised to bring to your appointment.
The most funniest thing that happens at my COLLEGE is that when a student doesn't get their way, they bring their backup.......their mother or grandmother. DUDE!! If you need your mom, especially your grandma, to go to your college to settle the matter, than you need to repeat your entire high school era. Good lord. A 39 year old guy paid for a parking decal for his friends car and didn't want to pay for another decal for his own car. Well, we informed him that he would have to purchase a decal for "his own car", he refused, and left. An hour later, he comes back with his 80 year old grandmother, who is using a walker, to take care of his obligations. WTF is that. I just got tired of answering the dumbest questions. When some students ask me questions, it's like...are you serious. I just smile and answer the question. It's just hillarious.
Well, that's all for the past couple of days. I have a headache big enough to last two weeks.
Happy belated 4th of July everyone. Hope everyone had a great one.
