"It may be that America is develpoing a whole new category of essentially social criminals... persons who threaten the police and the traditional social structure even when they are breaking no law... because they view The Law with contempt and the police with distrust, and this abiding resentment can explode with out warning at the slightest provocation." - Hunter S. Thompson..
May he rest in the peace he sought after for many years. His critism and unique interpretation on society itself has inspired me to be who i am today. This man that i have never met and now will never get the chance to meet was my hero, he stood for many things i believe in, and more that i don't disagree with. It pains me so much that yet another great writer took his own life. When i heard the news all i could hear were streetlight manifesto songs playing in my head "And i hope you rest in peace, because with us you never did."
It is hard to say you know a person you have never met, but i not only knew this man, he was a friend of mine, whether he knew it or not. Had i ever met up with him in a bar i would have spent every last dollar i had twords buying him drinks, just to hear him speak. There is a special place in my heart for Hunter S. Thompson.
Every person has an idol, somone you put up on an alter and say this man/woman means the world to me, and i will do all that is in my power to live up to the example they are setting. Mine put a gun to his head and ended his life. It's tragic and senceless. As is my own life.
Today Horatio Alger shed a tear. The American Dream has died with an American Hero.....
