so tonite i saw the detroit tigers win the alcs and advance to the promised land
having been a part of a world series last year,i enjoyed watching the bedlam that ensued when mr spalding took his long flight into the frothing masses in left field.
this is what baseball is all about.
for one month in the fall,cities come together to support a group of people that they do not know personally at all'
they shower thier teams with grattitude and become one with the team
again this year, a team of rag tag and scrappy players accomplished the ultimate goal of winning as a team and winning for the fans who have been there thier whole lives.
in a sport once dominated by a team of overpaid primaddonas and pretty boys
its refreshing to see the new trend of great team play and superior pitchng have bought championships to some of the most maligned teams.in a natural progression from the red sox to the white sox, its only fitting that a team that 3 years before lost over 110 games. The fans where still there in force that last game of that season...and now on the same day tha t they won thier last world series in 84, they were rewarded with a series clinching home run and a celebration detroit has been deseperate for.
