Firstly, posting this from ipad so if some of it looks like gibberish, it probably is. I haven't got the hang of typing on here yet and autocorrect hates me.
As most of you know I have been having gallstone issues and was scheduled for a routine op on 13th to have the gallbladder removed. Those of you who IM me know I was counting the days.
Last Wednesday I went in for my pre op assessment, found I was in pain but ok for the op. Thursday morning I couldn't keep anything down so my GP arranged for a non emergency ambulance to poodle along in a couple of hours to drive me over to Scarborough A&E because clearly a fishing port, tourist town, and generally elderly population like we have in Brid doesn't need an A&E so we don't have one. Then my body decided to try and kill me.
The worst pain you can imagine suddenly hit me and while I screamed in agony dad dialled 999 and I got to Scarborough a little more precipitously than I had planned. A lot of morphine later and a complete failure to keep even liquids down coupled with terrible readings for blood oxygen they sent me for a CT scan.
That pain was my gallbladder exploding. Everything else was the infection from it and the fluid in my abdomen. So I have a chest drain. I have antibiotics. And I have a gallbladder that needs to repair itself before any op happens so that will be months. On the upside I am now doing well. Walking around, breathing, back on solid food, ultrasound later in the week to see if the drain can come out and then they'll know when I can go home.
For those of you I missed updating earlier I am sorry. I don't remember a lot of Friday and Saturday to be honest and I was trying to keep at least one person in each circle updated so they could pass news on but you're all in different time zones and some of you have glided by without catching each other.
In summary, I'm doing good now and I miss you all. Can't wait to get home.
