For my last REAL speech class today, everyone had to do a special occasion impromptu speech. We didn't learn the subject/topic of our speech until the person before us began speaking. Only then would the teacher give us a cue card with our subject. Although the speeches are pass/fail, and they are SUPER quick (mine was only 30 seconds long), for some reason, people can't help but feel nervous. I know I was, haha. Speech class is something I really dreaded doing this quarter but it certainly kept me on my toes. It felt good to be nervous and have that heart beating quickly for once. Its that same "game time" feeling you get when you play sports or act or dance or sing, etc. Thankfully, I have things such as Modern and Kasayahan to keep me going with performances all year round.
Speaking of Kasa, we had a serious 3 hour practice today prepping for our auditions tomorrow night. And wow, I'm actually nervous. We have our stuff down, but we still have a small audience and we DO need to impress them. It's only gonna get crazier next week when we have dress rehearsals. hahaha. I can't believe we need to go out and buy that underwear.
And while I'm on the topic of music, I must say that having an iPod now makes life here so much more enjoyable.
Sadly, I missed the Dan the Automator, Chali 2na, and Casual concert today due to my speech class. I will, NEVER, EVER, have a class wednesday nights from now on. This week, I missed that concert, and I'm about to miss Prelude too this saturday. weeeeaaak.
This week went by extremely fast for me, AND I'm going home for my cousin's cotty this weekend. But it's gonna be weird, being a family member in a cottilion again. Family members aren't allowed to go crazy on the dance floor right? I mean, doesn't it look weird to the crashers at times? haha, besides, I'm going with my parents. And that changes the entire experience for me.
