Oh, this is shaping up to be an interesting tale. Beowulf, huh? Grendel better be careful now that the Doctor's about ;) Looking forward to seeing more!
Oh, this is so typical of the Doctor's sense of direction! Aims for nineteenth-century Paris and ends up eleven hundred years earlier and several hundred miles further north ;)
This made me laugh - and I could so visualise it playing out on screen: “Doctor,” said Rose, “I think he’s drawing his sword…”
Grinning tightly, the Doctor nodded, “I think you’re right.” He nodded his head at the two men. The warrior pointed his weapon at the Doctor’s chest. “Good sword… Well tooled and very…” he swallowed, “sharp. Erm… yes, well… I hope you don’t mind if we run!”
Amazing how they never actually run in the direction of the TARDIS when something like this happens, isn't it? ;)
I love writing episodic style fics. Doctor Who is such a visceral, engaging subject and I find myself periodically quite carried away with the possibilities... sad, huh? And, yes, the old cliches are certainly not out of bounds. In fact, I'm digging them deep into this story on complete purpose!
It'll get a bit more oh noes! in the upcoming chapters, unfortunately. Because, naturally, it has to get worse before it can get better! Hope you continue to enjoy it, though. ;)
Glad you enjoyed the first chapter. Of course, we all know what the general storyline will be, but the question is, how will the Doctor and Rose fit into it all and what will their experiences teach them... Though, I am wary of historical purists, because I have had to employ the odd change in order to make things work. Anyway, hope I continue to hold your interest. I'll be posting the second chapter tonight, all being well. Thanks for your review! :)
