So instead of the kazillion things I was supposed to do today, I saw Possession.
First of all, not all that scary a movie. Psychologically real and penetrating, but not scary.
Also, after seven years of The Closer it feels very strange to be watching Kyra Sedgwick on screen and moaning "turn on the light, you idiot!"
I thought KS did a great job with limited material. The rivals for her affection were competent, the kids show a lot of promise for extended careers and the minor characters were unexpectedly delightful. I think the plot fell apart at the end, but then my attention span? Not so good.
Best scene: picking out the shards of glass.
So if you have nothing to do, go see this. It's entertaining, and a lot of what's in theaters today is not.
