Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:
1) What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2) Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3) Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc.?
4) Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussion)?
5) Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
Femme_slash_fan gave me NCIS, Battlestar Galactica, The Closer.
NCIS
I resisted this fandom. I'm a Navy veteran, and the ambiance was idealized and unpleasantly unrealistic. Eventually, though, I watched a few episodes for guest stars that I knew and got addicted. I drift in and out of it, but for some reason the women draw me back. I loved the whole arc when Jenny Shepard came apart pursuing her father's killer. I write fanfiction on occasion, and yes, I think someone looking for a cop show fandom should consider getting into NCIS.
Battlestar Galactica
I was there for the beginning. Not 2003, 1978. It offered silliness in a space opera context, it had Lorne Greene whom I knew from Bonanza and it had Richard Hatch. Pardon the short break while I wipe a bit of drool. There, that's better. Then came 2003. The special effects were better, Tricia Helfer was gorgeous, there was Mary McDonnell and Lucy Lawless and OMG we still got Richard Hatch! who is now even more drool-worthy. I have no favorite episodes of this one, since they are all so far above anything else on television as to be another order of material entirely. I write fanfiction and do graphics for challenges, and I think anyone who somehow hasn't seen this show should check it out, since this will inevitably lead to being "in the fandom."
The Closer
Picture an old fat lady idly flipping channels: sports, news, Law & Order, cooking, Law & Order, unfamiliar cop show... OMG was that Mary McDonnell? Picture old fat lady sitting beamed on the TV for the rest of the hour. Okay, the lady wasn't a regular at that time, but Kyra's kind of easy on the eyes, too, and JK Simmons just will keep reminding a girl what the "bi" in bisexual is all about, plus he's funny, too. I think almost everyone now in this fandom will segue into Major Crimes when The Closer ends, but of course this show will remain as back story. My favorite eps? The one where the visiting niece drugs the highest ranking woman in the LAPD, the one where the bride beats up said highest ranking woman and all the Mary eps. I write fanfic, I sometimes make tacky graphics and I can talk about this one for hours, and yes, anyone who needs a femslashy fandom with humor and romance and mystery would do well to investigate the Closer-verse.
