Marie Antoinette and Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire-wardobe swapping?
I know a lot of people on my friends list are a great fan of Marie Antoinette and costumes so I thought this might be of interest to some of you. I recently read Caroline Weber`s `Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette wore to the Revolution` and can strongly recommend it to anyone remotely curious about MA or fashion of that era. This book was incidentally, strongly quoted in the Vogue article which appeared with the MA photoshoot (as in the film).
Particularly interesting, especially for anyone looking forward to the film`The Duchess`, starring Keira Knightley which is to come out soon, is the fact that these two women were friends. According to Weber, MA actually gave Georgiana a dress as a gift (page 150).Doubtful this will feature in the new film but interesting nonetheless.
