Books

I've found that I am reading alot more than I have in a while.

After finishing The Restaraunt at the End of the Universe, and Masters of Deciet: The story of the Communist party in America and how to fight it, I picked up another Douglas Adams book:

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul

Absolutely hilarious. I mean really, It's a riot.

So I finished that and picked up

The Caine Mutiny

It's an absolute classic and a damn good Humphrey Bogart movie (then again all of his movie are great. The man is a genius).

I am also reading Micheal Crichton's "Sphere" at the same time.

All of this in about a month. It's insane. I never used to read this much.

And I love it.

I learned a new coin effect, well a few actually. I am practicing one and working out one in my head.

Imagine a signed coin vanishes, both hands are shown empty. A sealed soda or beer can is grabbed. opened, poored out. Inside the can is the signed coin.

That's the one I'm working in my head (handling wise).

Heres the bad news:

Tonight was the last night for The Stardust. So no more shows for me. It's ok though I'll find another place. It was really a shame to see them go, great bunch of folks.

In January they will be open in Huntsville (3 hours away). They want me to do magic there. All I can say is driving 6 hours round trip and spending a few hours there will cost alot more than I used to be paid (which was mainly tips). Then again that is to be expected, I am taking 8 hours out of my day, plus gas money.

ANYWAY

I'm sick and feel terrible in the mornings and mid afternoons.

High vocab time:

I recently imbibed medicinal tablets designed to stifle the symptoms on the particular ailment that plauges my existance. The ailment in question has been a nuisance to my person for three full days and is continuing to be an detriment to my bodily health and mental sanity.

Basically:

This sickness is driving me mad, I recently took some pills and I feel a little better.

Jesus on a bicycle! I love proper English at times.

That by the way is the phrase that is replacing "Jesus H Tap Dancing Christ!"

Although both have quite funny mental images, I think the image of a messianic figure and origin of my religion riding a bicycle (especially if it had a basket) is just slightly more humourous that this same figure tap dancing. Unless of course it is in a tap dance duet with a young Shirley Temple (as in if he were Mr. Bojangles).

At that point of course Nat, breaks into song (the song being Mr. Bojangles). At least that's how I remember it always being. I miss those days.
