Everyone I Went To High School With

On Facebook I have befriended 57 former high school classmates. Of that number I keep in touch regularly with 8 of them. 4 have sent me an actual message asking what's up but that was it. 26 are married. 14 are married with children. 5 are divorced with children.

(I don't know how many are divorced with no children. I'd have to do more investigating. note to self: find something more constructive to do)

Of the ones with kids

5 of them have their kids as their profile picture
5 of them have them with their kids as their profile pic
5 of them have them with their spouses

2 classmates have married each other

5 of them are gay
(4 were obvious, 1 was not)

14 (not counting the divorced) are in relationship
7 are single

I think more than half of them still live in New Jersey or in a New Jersey-like town somewhere else in the country. Most of the married ones enjoy going to Yankee games. Most have children with blotchy skin. One black classmate married a white woman. 2 of them I know are scary religious freaks. One has 5 kids. The other has 4.

I feel very alien to these people. I'm sure each person here may have felt the same way too once. Well it's just difficult sometimes cause I still feel like my life hasn't yet started. Maybe it's because I went to a small hick town that measured most people's happiness by marriage and children. I don't know perhaps that is just me being a bit bias. But at 32 years old I start to compare myself to those who I grew up with.
