squee!!
so of all of my florida pix that went poof on my CF card, this is the one that i was absolutely saddest about losing:
i was walking along in this pedestrian mall called lincoln road in miami beach merrily taking pictures of art deco buildings and palm trees and the like. and i look up just as this dude bikes past me with a chicken sitting on his handlebars. happened too quick and i missed the shot, possibly because i was all holy crap!!!11!!1one. a little while later, i see him again, but like the first time, i didn't get the shot as he whizzed by pretty quickly. by that time i'm completely miffed at myself and seriously miserable. how many times does one get to see a dude with a chicken ride past you on a bike in an american urban area???? (heh, remember i hadn't yet been to key west at this point.) a while later as i was walking back down the street, possibly having been seated to watch some parrots in a tree, i look up and chicken dude is riding toward me for a third time. this go-round i actually did have just enough time to pick up the camera and click (and that's it, no checking the settings). i was extremely fortunate to get this one shot, properly exposed and not blurry. i've fixed the color a little bit, resized and sharpened, that's it. and of course i didn't see the guy again after i got this shot. lucky, lucky shot. and so very fortunate to have gotten it back after my major screwup with the CF card. yay!
