Luis and Renee Overfield and the Chair Painting Luis.

Wow.. I don't know if I'll remember enough of this dream to incorporate it, but I'm going to try. The bit I'm writing here is my interpretation of what I was told by the cashier at the Marketplace... all in a dream, of course.

Renee and Luis were lovers, married a long time and living near Normal, but just far enough away that the Normal folks didn't cause them any trouble. Luis died first. Renee joined him soon after. Once a year, near Halloween, they did face painting for the children who came to the Marketplace. On Halloween, either Renee or Luis would paint the face of the other, as they were both fairly accomplished artists.
This year it was Luis' turn. As Renee painted his face, he would sit in the old rocking chair out in the front yard, in full view of the windows and the doors and the gas pumps and the phone booth and he would rock, gently.

Folks who didn't know figured it was the wind that moved the chair. Folks who did know pretty much ignored it until Renee was done. That was when the fun really began, because a disembodied face, whether it is floating in the air or just laying on the ground, is sure to bring a ton of laughs from folks who are privy to the joke.
