Count of Star Trek captains seen in live performance: 2. Picard and Janeway. Whee!
So ya, Kate Mulgrew was doing a one-woman play in Pasedena, and so of course Meredith arranged a trip to go see it, and I went along. It was much fun. Steven and Meg were also there. There was a lot of insanity beforehand, since Meg and I got off work at 5:30, had to walk back up to Mudd, eat, and shower, and Meredith had been hoping to leave by 6:00. So much for that. Then I was pretty ready to go, but I had forgotten that we were supposed to be dressyish. I was going to forget about it, because Meredith wasn't super dressy, but then Steven was in black and white and Meg was wearing a dress and heels. So I had to dress up some. So we finally ended up leaving at like 6:25. Meredith was stressing out about their still being tickets, but we got what was apparently the last block of 4 seats in a row, so it was all good.
It was a pretty awesome performance, and even I have seen enough Star Trek stuff to be like "whoa...it's Captain Janeway". It wasn't as awesome as Patrick Stewart was, but I wasn't really expecting it to be. Well, awesome in a different way at least. Mulgrew had more opportunity to be a good actress, and Stewart more opportunity to show of his incredible stage presence, because of the types of performance.
Oh, the work that kept us late. At 5:00 I was finishing up putting together a french door. Twas rather crazy. The obnoxious part was making a fancy edge on the inside edges. This involved taking a router and running it along the entire inside of the frame, flipping it over, and doing the same thing again. By the time I was done with one door I had so much sawdust on my arms...it was a layer probably a good 1/8 inch thick.
Mmm, also went to ITR games last night. Maybe a poor choice, but it was fun. And I went to the first random games of the year.
And Jun and Karen, don't die!
