I'm back! No really, I don't deserve a standing ovation, a boo and a jeer will do.
So lots has happened since I last posted on this place.
Work is going pretty well at the moment, I'm coming up with loads of ideas to improve business (not that we need it, we're making loads of money) which will be instigated when the new site goes online. It feels more and more like I run the whole operation but that can only be good for my CV I suppose!
In my spare time I have been mostly going to pubs, watching TV (in advance thanks to Nicole's new job-she gets DVDs of all good shows so no bit-torrent for me!), doing my weights, playing guitar (well playing David Ford songs on guitar), working, planning holidays (a weekend in London-yes I know but a hotel is surely a treat when living in a place with a landlord that ignores anything that goes wrong, and Thailand-I can't wait!).
Big Bro: Now this celebrity big brother is rather good. I thought they'd picked a right bunch of losers on the first night but I was wrong, they've picked a right bunch of losers who are very entertaining. Jodie Marsh was a delight, she was so stupid and really brought out the nasty sides of certain men in the house who should really know better than to bully a 24 year old with the iq of half that. Yesterday Faria left which was brilliant in my opinion cos she was dull. We have Preston from nobody-indieband The Ordinary Boys who is destined to win although what it will achieve for his career is not clear. They only seem to have one good song which has already been released twice and made no real dent in the charts. Perhaps he has some classics up his sleeve although judging by what i've seen he just has thousands of rather lame tattoos. In a just world Chantelle would win because although she is thick as shit and not a 'real celebrity' she is by far the most entertaining and will probably carve herself out quite a good Jodie Marsh style career in the outside world. Don't think Jodie will like her so much then though :(
Arctic Monkeys: Interesting one this one. They appear to be the new Westlife, or I suppose to be more fair the new Beatles. I don't know how many decades ago a northern rock band managed to get their debut singles and album to number 1 in the charts. As long as they have some more decent tunes on the album I think this is a very good thing. Knocking ex-factor Shayne off the top of the charts is perfect too, proving there is more to life than bland manufactured pop-slurry (don't get me wrong, I like good pop, just not this shite).
David Ford: I went to see him last week and he was about 10 times better than he was last time I saw him. He seems a lot more relaxed on stage and seemed to be really enjoying himself while perfoming one of the best gigs i've ever been to. Much as I love miserable angst-ridden shoe-gazers I think it all feels a lot more special when the person on the stage is smiling, slightly drunk and having loads of fun. His new video is on his site now, it apparently cost £10 to make and involves him breaking up with his girlfriend and then being smacked around by about 100 people. Now, I love high-budget David LaChappelle videos but if on £10 you can produce a decent video I don't see the point in spending millions.
Dig: I saw a film called Dig last week. It was rather good. It was a documentary about The Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The singer from the latter is a fucking mentalist who is always destined to fail because although he has a hell of a lot of talent he can't help fucking up every chance he ever gets in life (reminds me of someone I used to know). Its quite a depressing but also uplifting documentary because you see his longterm chums the Dandys careers take off. Although they also want to have artistic control, they are willing to comprimise to make it happen. A good lesson in life. If slightly dull...
Right, time to go, i've even bored myself but I promise to return soon when i've actually got an idea what to write rather than having a free 5 minutes.
Bye bye!
