Fond Farewell to my Friends

Dec 16, 2004 21:03

I’ve less than 48 hours left in Ireland so I’ll make this my last post. First off, I hope you’ve enjoyed checking in, reading the posts, and viewing the pictures. Speaking of pictures I’ve loaded up the other Aran Island pictures here. Secondly, below is my location for the next few weeks. I hope to see you all. These are limited engagements and tickets go on sale at 10am through all Ticketmaster outlets:

Dec. 18-24, Washington DC

Dec. 24-Jan. 8, Buffalo NY

Jan. 8-graduation, Washington DC

In other news, I’ve just finished both of my history finals. After the latter final, three professors and I went for a drink at the student bar. Now there’s something you’d never see at AU! Well, maybe in the journalism department.

Tomorrow is my archaeology exams but I’m not too worried because the professor is the kind of guy who likes “free-thinkers.” Whereas other professors don’t want you to go off on tangents and ramble, I think he’d actually prefer it! Then I’m going downtown to do all the things I should have done in Dublin, but haven’t yet; like eat at the oldest fish and chips shop in town and ride the Luas. Then it’s out with some Irish mates for our fond farewell.

Saturday is travel day; Non-direct flight from Dublin to Chicago. Chicago!? The busiest airport in the country at the busiest time of the year and I have to arrive there on an international flight. Then a connecting flight to Washington. Alas, I will be back in the U.S. and with Pam and life will be grand. It’s grand now too, but I mean a different kind of grand. The internet in the launderette keeps kicking me offline, so I’ll take it as my cue to leave. But not before I leave you with this song…

“For all the money that ere I spent / I spent it in good company"

And for all the harm that ere I've done/ I've done it all to none but me

Give to me the parting glass/ good night/ and joy be with you all.”

Go raibh maith agat and Slán Abhaile.

-Joe
