Jaws. Carl. Whiskey.

Hello, intarweb.

It's been an exciting week, full of... excitement. Yep.

Wednesday, I got to hang out with Carl Gottlieb, the screenwriter for a little movie called 'Jaws'. You see, Kodak has been planning a Jaws screening at The Loft for quite some time, and they were going to bring out Bill Butler, the cinematographer, for the screening to hang out with us. Unfortunatley, the film he's currently shooting has been delayed and he wasn't able to come. I was a little annoyed that Bill wasn't able to come, as I had all of these little geeky cinematography questions for him and the like, and I really wanted to talk to him. When we were told that Carl (the writer) was coming, I was a little annoyed, but still - the oppertuninty to talk to such a person couldn't be understated.

Man, I'm so glad that I was wrong about the guy coming.

To make the somewhat long story somewhat of a short story, I'll put it into bullet points:

- Had lunch with him and the kodak rep. He ordered beer, I followed. Everyone else drank water and iced tea. Hence, I got to drink with a screenwriting legend.

- Went out and bought a cool Jaws one-sheet (movie poster for the un-initiated) for Carl to sign, and they gave me this really cool, old, out-of-print version of the poster for almost nothing.

- Hung out with the Kodak crew, collected donations for our film and shot the shit.

- I had the briliant idea to ask Carl if he wanted to go out for drinks during the film, since I figured he'd seen it a thousand times by now. No one thought it'd work, but I asked him, and soon afterward, Kelli D., Randall P., Hamdija and I were on our way to the Red Garter with a screenwriting legend. Sure, I wanted to see the 35mm print quite a bit, but it was either that or have drinks and a chat with the guy who wrote it. Yeah, I think we made the right call. Talked a lot about the industry, films, politics and just about everything else. Awesome!

- Got back to The Loft, a little before the film was over, and had him sign my poster, and his book - which I'd also purchased earlier. Had a random person take a group photo of us, which turned out pretty well.

- We all parted ways after the screening, and he told us how much he was looking forward to being at our screening in May in LA. Sweet.

- Went out with Kelli D., Ashley for a few drinks. Flirted. Drank. Flirted. Drank. You know the routine.

Yeah, that was pretty much it.

I'm sure that some other things happened this week, but I'm low on my lukewarm whiskey, and I need a refil. I may or may not be back.
