The First Entry of a Series?

Oct 24, 2014 21:57

I live a life in which I have no hobbies any more. I do not watch TV shows, movies, or listen to music. And yet, I do not feel like I am missing out on anything. I have one friend left with whom I meet every few weeks or so. And I live in a large metropolitian area with millions of others. I live with the members of my family so I am seldom lonely.

I shall try to devote the next few entries towards my adventures (and misadventures) in starting and operating a business. For those of you who might know, I own a tutoring business which has been officially running since 2009. Unofficially, I have been running the business since late 2006 when I got my first student to regularly tutor. My business is organized as a limited liability company (LLC) but I prefer not to disclose any more details about it. However, I can say that I am working with under one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).

At college, I majored in math and not business. What type of a math major starts a tutoring business? What DO math majors do after college, anyways? Work as analysts for some company while earning a masters degree? And why earn the masters degree? To further a career as an analyst?

Technically, I am not an employee of the company, nor do I consider myself as an "official" owner. I am a member-manager of the company. However, my working title is "tutor". I do not call myself an owner, president, CEO, chairman, or founder. I am simply a tutor who works for the company. I will call my company TutorCo, for now.
