#12 is done and behind me for the time being. It was different. One character spent most of the chapter talking and recanting an event. I'm not sure if the way it was written, her retelling the even is the correct way of doing it... I suspect it is... but I could have also split the chapter into a sub chapter where I could have written out the events like I have been writing the rest of the story. I'm not sure it would be the same, but I'll leave that up to the draft readers to help me decide that.
Anyway, once again. I didn't feel the outline hit the right moments, so I expanded them as I wrote. So, now it makes a little more sense... a little... plus, it added a level to the current situation that was only glossed over in the outline. There is something about little girls crying in desperation, true desperation that I think is very moving.
Every day I go through writing this story I remember how it all started with a short dream. I know this story isn't some epic, spanning hundreds of pages. I know. It was never meant to be that. (Taco is stalking something around my feet) Its a story meant to be read over the weekend. Something enjoyable that only asks for a little time commitment.
I'm at around 56 pages now. I can imagine that the first draft up to this point will be at least 60 pages. That sounds about right for my estimations for length of this story. Estimations made YEARS ago.
So, a little break... then on to chapter 13, while listening to the soundtrack from The Fountain.
