This last lunar eclipse observance of mine was, despite missing most of the actual eclipse, my favourite moontan ever. I was working, closing a store, as the already fully-eclipsed moon came over the horizon. By the time my shift was done, most of the shadow had gone. Through a series of text messages, however, I managed to snag a ride downtown right then from my friend, whom I also invited to come down to the beach with her friend. We found a bonfire down there already going, with people singing together, and immediately joined them. We sang with them, and made instruments with stones and sticks. It was really cool, and the view of the moon was spectacular. We stayed warm by the fire, but I still got my skin in the moon's light.
It's really cool to be able to find other humans doing a thing at a specific time, without having met each other before. Everyone there was a stranger, and yet were not strangers. They knew the songs, and knew to walk to that place, at that time. The warmth of the fire drew us together, as of old.
