I haven't posted since 1/1/14 and I haven't read my friends page in months, which I feel really badly about. Part of the problem, which I'm rediscovering today, is that my friends feed only shows me the last two weeks of posts and then it jumps to one post from August 2013 and then tells me there's nothing more to show. So if I want to catch up, I have to go to each person's page. I love you all, but I don't have that kind of time and patience. I also find that I've never been good at journaling, which is why posting small tidbits on Facebook is a better medium for me.
I see that the last couple of January 1st posts I've done included recaps of the year that just ended, but I don't have much to say about 2014. I went on that trip with Joe and his mom in the spring, which was equal parts wonderful and frustrating. Joe's mom is not the easiest traveling companion, and though we went to some beautiful places and saw some amazing things, it wasn't the trip I would have planned. I'm looking forward to planning a trip with just Joe, as soon as we both save a little money. We want to go to Cardiff to the Doctor Who Experience.
Yes, my DW obsession continues. I finished watching all the classic episodes last summer, though I haven't yet started re-watching the reboot episodes. I have, however, started reading the comics that came out in the 80s and I've downloaded several of the audio adventures. I've also read all of the Peter Haining books about the show - he put out special anniversary books with history and interviews and episodes guides and behind-the-scenes info.
The summer and early fall were a blur - I was doing my job and that of a co-worker on maternity leave and worked incredible long hours. I feel like I'm still recovering from that, since there were several aspects of my job that just didn't get done and I'm still catching up. I took this week off work, but brought work home with me.
The most exciting thing that's hapening now is that my 40 inch TV is starting to act up - one of the HDMI ports is not working right and sometimes the TV has lost communication with all the ports, which requires that I unplug it and plug it back in. Once I've unplugged/replugged the power cable, or unplugged/replugged an HDMI cable, it works fine until the next time I turn it on. Annoying. So, I took advantage of the fact that I've recently been given Amazon gift cards for birthday and Christmas and ordered a new 55 inch TV, which will arrive tomorrow. This means that I'll need a new entertainment center, since the space for the TV won't accommodate anything bigger than the 40 inch, which means a trip to IKEA tomorrow after the TV arrives. I've spent today rearranging things. My spare bedroom is filled with bookcases, some of which are cheap and not so attractive, so I cleared those off and moved them out of the room. I've then cleared off the entertainment center, which will move to the spare room to make room for the new entertainment center. If anyone needs a bookcase, let me know. I'll probably put photos up on FB, and if I don't get any takers, I'll call The Brown Elephant and schedule a pickup.
And now for the annual list of books I read last year.
