big girl, proven by SCIENCE!

So Annika had her 12 month appointment today, which meant flu shot, chickenpox vaccine and the dreaded MMR. It is dreaded mostly because you don't want to have to justify 21st century first world medicine to folks who believe everything they read on the internet and decide it is evil and harmful. My last thoughts: it is a bitchy shot, and hurts, but Annika was together enough after it to smile and wave bye bye to her nurse. Corrolation is not causation, and measles kills people; also, you can't say no one gets it anymore, because so many people are getting mediaeval about it that people do. Ok, rant over.
Chickenpox meant that I had to get my chickenpox vaccine, too, as is it a live vaccine and there is a small chance of infection, especially for poop slingers. Nope, never had it, and now I can get shingles, dammit. Having not had the pox meant that I was free and clear!
So here is the moose:

95th percentile across the board: headmeats, height, weight. She is "following her own curve" in weight, says the doc. (Heh.) 26 lbs, 5 oz...only up 8 oz in 3 months. 31 inches. She is rockin' the Denver Developmental Screening as well, ahead of the curve on walking well, fine motor and language. Someday maybe she'll even crawl...
