so yesterday was warped tour, a day of good music, good-looking girls and good times for all. or so i thought.
if you don't know what happened last year, here's a quick recap: went by myself, rained half the day, got stranded in barrie, met some cool people who were also stranded, 6 hours and $85 later: finally got home only to find out i had been locked out by my sister and ended up sleeping in an old cargo van under a blanket covered in mouse shit.

this year was worse.

i had to wait at the yorkdale bus terminal for 4 HOURS. fortunately, more than half the youngsters who were also waiting were too impatient and ended up going home, calling cabs or calling their parents. if so many hadn't left, many of us would probably still be waiting there now. even though i had already missed half the show by the time the bus finally showed up, i was still in relatively good spirits. after all, i was at least getting there and not completely wasting my money, right?

wrong

when i finally got to molson park and checked the band lineup, every single band i wanted to see had already played. every motherfucking last one of them! i missed tiger army (who i wanted to see most of all), lars and the bastards, anti-flag, rise against, the casualties, flogging molly... i missed the planet smashers! and the motherfucking VANDALS! i didn't even know those two were going to be there so it would've been an awesome surprise to see them. instead it was an extra special kick in the balls because i missed them too.
oh sure, there were lots of bands still coming up, but for the most part they were either pop punk or screaming douchebags (eg. alexisonfire). the only bands left that i kind of wanted to see were the bouncing souls and bad religion. the bouncing souls are awesome, but their live show was the most god awful thing i've ever been subjected to. bad religion was the second last band of the day but by then i had had enough and just left. at that point i would rather make sure i had a seat on the bus than wait to see them. i could kind of hear them from the parking lot anyways.

i don't lead a very exciting existence and i rarely have any especially interesting outings. the warped tour is usually the highlight of my summer. not this year. thanks greyhound.
