Past Worn
I like getting old coins in change. I don't mean vintage 1914 coins, but like a quarter from the early sixties. I like how they're worn and smooth. I like to think about how durable they are. I wonder where they've been and how many people and who exactly has used this coin. What was the first thing it was used to buy? Where was it used? By whom? When was it first given back in change? I think of it as a real tangible thread from a time past into today. When paying and using coins, the old coins are the last ones I'll use if I have a large enough selection in my pocket.
