Giggle Temps
For some reason there are many people at my work that, for no apparent reason, often end reply statements with a smattering of laughing. They are almost invariably older middle-aged women. Their sentence will go like this: Yeah...well, I guess I'd better get back to work (ha ha ha ha) or You're right, it sure is cold today (ha ha ha ha). It a habit of speech they've developed to laugh at things that aren't remotely funny.
Why during weather reports do they feel they need to tell you the temperatures in five to seven individual town in the viewing/listening area? Does it really matter that it's 21 in Rice Lake while it's up to 23 in Mondovi? The temperatures are usually in a range of no more than five degrees.
