Stuff I'm Doing

  1. Keeping up after the Shmoog.

  2. That pretty much speaks for itself.
  3. Knitting.

  4. Not hanging around Ravelry as much as perhaps previously, but I have been making Jayne hats.  I even sold one on Artfire!  My Etsy account has yet to yield a sale, but I continue to live in hope.

I'm also auctioning one off for charity: Save Peter & Ericka's Accessible House

I find getting out and making friends with zero context to be a difficult task, especially when I'm in a situation like now, when I could really use the help of friends on a daily basis. When I went to grad school, for instance, or when I lived in Germany, I at least had a context; I had classes with people, interactions daily with other adults, and the freedom to just go and do with people that I didn't have here, with my sole definite occupation being "take care of brand new baby".

The moms' group thing that meets Tuesday I'm not so sure I'm going to fit in with, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. The message board for the group has pretty much informed me that these women are a couple of socioeconomic levels above where I stand right now (talk about nannies and housecleaners), but that also might clue in some commonality too (likely to have higher education, for example).

We'll see.

But I'm totally about having people over, so maybe this will be okay after all.

Still, it's just a lot of effort, and being more or less alone means I have to be both proactive and creative about getting myself contact with like-minded adults.
