Dear Mel Gibson,
Do you ever shut your mouth?? Please stick to things you know about like Lethal Weapons and What Women Want. Stop making movies about Jesus and TV shows about stupid families. And for goodness sake, stop using your celebrity to make people listen to you while you rant about things you obviously don’t understand. Even people who like you are getting really annoyed. Just go back to your so-so acting and leave us alone.
Thanks,
Amber
Ok, here’s my two cents on Stem Cells and I bring this up because that’s what Mel Gibson was making a big deal about on the Today Show last week.
The embryonic cells (which are the most controversial ones) they are researching are the ones marked for destruction. They are created in fertility banks for people who can’t conceive children. They aren’t used because it would be detrimental to the mother’s health to carry all the embryos that are created (sometimes 8 or 9 are produced). Yes, the cells have the potential to become life but they aren’t being used at all, they are simply being destroyed. So instead of destroying them and losing their possibility of life anyway, why not use them to potentially save existing lives? That is what stem cell research is all about. How is it a bad thing? It would seem those who argue against it have more respect for the possibility of life than they do for those already living and suffering from diseases like Muscular Dystrophy and Parkinson’s. Or perhaps they simply don’t understand the issue. It’s not like scientists are plucking pregnant women off the street, making them have abortions, and then using the cells from those babies for research. It’s not like that one bit. In fact, I don’t see it as really being an ethical issue at all. But perhaps I don’t understand the other side of the issue. In that case someone who is against using stem cells (which is totally your opinion and I respect that), please help me understand why you feel the way you do. Thanks.
Now I will step off my soap box.
