I've been roleplaying in general for around seven years now, but a year of it has only been on here and Insane journal. So I'm fairly okay with the AIM/Journal way of RPing.
Who referred you? I found this community, through an ad's community. And thought I'd give applying a bash!
The Character
Name : Selena Marie Gomez.
Age : 17.

Likes/Dislikes : Selena has been acting for as long as she can remember, staring in Barney was her first permanent TV role. Meaning her comfort zone is infront of the camera. Or indeed infront of an audience of people. She's in her element when she's noticed, a love of hers being able to make people laugh. Her love of acting comes from her mom, who back a few years acted in the theatre. Realising how much passion she put into her roles, she inspaired a young Selena to give it a shot herself. Joining Barney back in 2002 - 2003. Claiming that the show taught her "everything" about how to act. It was her first screen break.
Off screen, she loves skate boarding and surfing too cheerleading and dance and drawing, citing in an interview "I like to draw and paint. I've been doing it ever since I could remember. I have no idea what I draw. I just draw anything that comes to mind. Objects, usually."
She becomes very cross if she lacks vigorous physical activity. Gomez feels her best if she frequently "does battle" on the tennis or racquetball court. Always feeling the need to be on the go.
Among Selena's other loves, is music. Having released her first album Kiss & Tell in mid 2009. Stating that she didn't want to do the solo thing. Selena did the band effort. Resulting in Selena And The Scene. She began writing the album back in early 2007. "I decided I wanted this album to be the best it could be, that's why I took so long in writing it. I'm proud of it. The whole band is."
August 2009, Selena was named an ambassador for UNICEF. At only 17 years old. She's the younger UNICEF ambassador, In her first official field mission, Gomez traveled to Ghana on September 4, 2009 for a week to witness first-hand the stark conditions of vulnerable children that lack vital necessities including clean water, nourishment, education and healthcare. Telling Starpress how honoured she was to have a voice that people listen too. And someone to speak up for what needs to be heard.
Keen animal lover, having in total four dogs. Selena rescued her dog from an animal shelter back a few years ago. He's named Chip. She would love to adopt more animals in future, but her schedule keeps her busy.
She has a tendency to come across quite strong, prefering to show her personality and the real her directly to people. She doesn't like fake personalities much. She dislikes showing any personal weakness or her need for support, comfort and nurturing. She is often impatient with herself and others. Selena abhors emotional dependency and dislikes "complainers". Attracted to people who are adventurous, courageous and independent. Selena is rather bossy but does not like to be with people that she can boss around too much.
Family Life : Born to Hispanic parents, in Mexico. Selena is an only child. When asked if she enjoys being an only child, she replied "I do. I was raised with my mom and my grandmother and she babysat, so I've been around kids my entire life and I have all my friends with me. I think it's nice sometimes to be alone. Sometimes I do get lonely, but other than that, I like it."
Coming from a close knit family, Selena has many fond memories. Citing her favourite possesions as "The promise ring that my dad gave to me when I was 12 and my grandmother's blanket."
She depends a great deal upon other people for emotional support and she has a large "family" of friends who care about her and treat her as kin. The women in Selena's life are particularly important to her, and her relationships with them have a powerful impact on her sense of security and happiness.
Disney Relation :
Selena is friends with the majority of the Disney cast. Mainly to name a few ; David Henrie, whom she works on the show Wizards of Waverly Place. Stating that her teenage co-star is almost like a brother to her. Rumors have been flying around over the past few years of David and herself dating. To which Selena has denied.
Demi Lovato, Selena met Demi back in 2003 on the set of Barney and Friends. And have been friends ever since. So much infact, Selena regards Demi as her best friend. The two often spending alot of time together. Netorious for making YouTube video's together. Talking about the need for a bestfriend in your life, Selena says, "What I really like about it is the friendship element. A lot of little girls look up to Demi and I's friendship because I've known her since I was seven, and we've gone through so much together and that's what I really appreciate, is that there are such thing as having girls as your best friend for a really long time. Of course it's not easy but you go through all those things and that was really nice having that message come across."
Other close friends of hers are The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Mitchell Musso etc..
Relationships :
Gomez is Catholic and began wearing a purity ring with "true love waits" engraved when she was 12 years old. Deciding to wait until marriage before she does the irrevarable. She's never as such been in a proper relationship or felt true love for none other than her family. Perhaps due to her young'ness or her naive state of mind, that true love just happens.
But she know's she's not the purest girl around. She's drank before, she's partied till 10am and done the walk of shame home. She's like any other teenager and she isn't afriad to admit that. She has a childish outlook on life almost. Do everything while you can, before it's too late.
Selena's not new to relationship claims made by the media. she's had had a lot of relationship scandals in the past, but none too bad. David Henrie, Nick Jonas, Taylor Lautner just to name a few.
David seems to be an on going thing with the media, spending a lot of time with her co-star in WOWP. The paparazzi seem to make a big deal of their closeness which Selena dislikes alot. She doesn't understand how a boy and a girl can't be friends without more going on.
A while back Selena was reportedly dating Nick Jonas, which according to the media, caused friction between herself and fellow Disney star / Nick's Ex-girlfrined Miley Cyrus. Selena nor Nick confirmed anything with the media. But Selena has since said that she feels no resentment to Miley. Both being really good friends.
She'd love to experience a true relationship, she can be both open and herself in. And more importantly not have to lie anymore. The spotlight and media attention is sometimes known to get Selena a little down. She has a magnetic personality, are unconventional, and a bit unpredictable. Selena loves to flirt and is likely to have sudden romantic relationships that do not always last.
Originality :
Selena has a good heart. Warmhearted and generous in love relationships, she cannot tolerate pettiness or stinginess in her partner. She wants a hero to idolize and adore, someone to wholeheartedly admire and be proud of. Being tremendously loyal and devoted once she gives her heart to someone. She's there for her friends 24/7, and she hopes they know that.
She's hard working. Promoting beauty, the arts or entertainment can make Selena Gomez very happy. She wants to contribute something positive and loving to the world at large and she wants to be recognized for her beauty, artistic gifts or loving generosity. Selena may be "married to" her work - namely she may be more involved in her career than in her private life.
She does thing's and says thing's that are from the heart. She wants to make the world a better place, she wants to make everyone feel loved. She wants to save the earth and feed the children and home the homeless animals. She's giving and caring. And easy to manipulate, that's her down fall. She opens up to fast, gives her all. Then takes the knock-back. She is rather susceptible to flattery and loves to feel special.

Selena is down to earth and true to who she is. She's playful and young and fresh. And that's what makes her most amazing. (:
And, If we're talking OCC. I hate drama. It stays in the community only. duhhhh. :D

Community Writing Sample :
- Your character runs into (not literally, but if you want them to, go for it) another character of your choosing at craft services (catering etc) on their shared lot. How does your character react to seeing so and so?
Jumping off set before anyone had found their voice, and mention ready set go. She had already sprinted over to the table filled with hot snacks and beverages. Some cold. To which she obviously turned her nose up at. Feeling the compulsive need for something filling. She reached out for the first thing that her sights set upon. Working since 6am, was never a good idea. Especially when your 17, hormonal and growing, which indeed does involve crankyness if you didn't eat. Or sleep. To which Selena had been ever since the get go this morning. Damn the internet. Mental note - found out who invented the internet, and kill them. It's taken over your life. Who even cares if they're dead. You'll find their body and kill them a second time.
Craning her neck to the side a little, she let out a soft yawn followed by, "You know, the average teenager needs somewhere between 10 hours sleep" she muttered under her breath, taking another bite out of the delictable hot object in her hands. Some sort of pastry? Not like she cared. She could eat a horse, she was so ravenous. Picking up a coffee to wash the clumps of flaky pastry in her throat. She sighed with satisfaction. Before making a turn
Taking the inititive and turning back round to go back onto set. The damn director only usually gave them five minutes break in the morning. Which was just enough time to sprint, eat, pee and get back. Spinning so fast it made her light headed she took long strides back to the camera set up but collided with someone half way. Sending her backwards onto her backside, groaning loudly- and biting back a string of swearwords. She looked over to see none other than David Henrie sat beside her looking equally as tired and bummed out.
"I really should have guessed, you here to make my morning worse!" she smirked, leaning over to push his shoulder playfully. Small talk really wasn't her thing, so Selena instead brought one hand up to his face, pulling his nose. "WAKEY WAKEY!" she grinned, hoping to her feet and on her journey back to work. Across the room.
Journal Writing :
So I'm sitting her at 4:30 am or something or an other. I don't even know. Like we need time. It's so man made. And .. so whatever.
I've just finished watching DAWN OF THE DEAD. And I'm totally thinking about, what if there WAS a zombie apocolypse. Who would I take, what would I need and where would I go?
I've decided. I'd take a certain amount of girls and boys. I'm not going to pick names, because you all want to be my favourite. And it's just unfair to me. So there.
I'd take two of every animal like Noah's ark. IDEK WHY? But I would. Just incase the Zombie's got hungry. We're already killing species off.
We'd all go hide in the Eiffel Tower. Cause it's totally high up and Zombie's just can't climb. Because they're lifeless and so.. dead? Man zombies should invest in a gym membership and build those muscles up!!
(NOTE TO SELF : Invest in a work out plan for Zombies if an apocolypse ever happens. And call it Lifeless Limbs - BE GONE!)
It's not totally figured out yet. But it's in the motion. So I'll keep you posted.
