The Character
Name- Olesya Rulin
Age- 23
Appearance-
Likes/Dislikes- Olesya loves animals, and often 'fosters' dogs until they can be adopted, which is how she got her current dog Charlie. She likes outdoor activties like hiking, she enjoys dancing and is trained in ballet. She's also very concerned about the environment and very active in work to help the environment, such as clearing up beaches and planting trees. So, her dislikes, of course due to her love of animals, would be animal cruelty, being cooped up inside all day. She's not a huge fan of ice cream either.
Family Life- Olesya was born in Russia, and moved to America in the 90's as a young girl where she learned English at school. Her father opened a Taxidermist business when they moved to Utah. She has a brother, who serves in the army and has done a tour of duty in Iraq. She's incredibly close to her family, not only her immediate family in Utah, but her larger family in Russia, and so she travels back there every year to see them and spend time with them. She's very proud of where she comes from and it's a large part of who she is, and has helped shape the person she has become. Her family background has definitely helped keep her grounded throughout the success of HSM.
Disney Relation- Olesya played Kelsi Nielson in the High School musical films (1,2 and 3). She has attended various disney events, where she would have come into contact with many other disney stars, most likely including the Jonas Brothers at some point. She's especially close to her High School Musical co-stars especially Ashley Tisdale and the other minor cast members. She's close to Ashley because they're closer in age than many of the other cast. It made them fast, firm friends and despite their busy schedules, they love to meet up and shop or just hang out whenever they get the chance. She has also worked with other past Disney stars from her parts in DCOM's Hounded and Halloweentown High.
Hometown- Originally from a small village in Moscow, Russia. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Now resides in LA.
Originality- Olesya has never been the spotlight girl, she doesn't go to every single possible event. Most of the stuff you would hear about her would be attending an event for a good cause, or cleaning up the beach. She's friendly and down to earth, and works hard at making a difference for the causes she believes in. While so many people want to shut the papparazzi out, because she doesn't encounter them as much as some of the people she knows, their presence never bothers her much when they are around. If she can use their presence to draw attention to a cause she cares about then she will. She doesn't believe in pretending to be someone you're not. She hates pretence. She is who she is, and if people don't like it, then that's on them. She's affectionate and kind, and a lot more fun than you would think just from seeing her. She almost always has a smile on her face, that's just how she is.
She's also more girly than she may seem, yes, she loves to be outdoors whether she's hiking, cycling or walking. But she loves to go shopping too. She loves going rollerskating and dressing up in a tutu and acting silly. She does what she wants to do. She's not so determined to shake off the 'Disney Image', because she's never played into it. She just is who she is.
Relationships- Olesya is currently single. She's a very romantic person who is looking for someone special. But she's not going to force it to happen. She's happy to wait until love finds her. That's not to say she's prudish or boring, she enjoys going on dates like every normal young woman. She's been in serious relationships before, but they didn't work out, but she never lets that put her off looking for love again. If it happens, then she's completely open to it. In fact, she welcomes it. She's a loving person and she wants to be in love again one day, and share the love she has with someone. She secretly always had a slight crush on her younger co-star Ryne.
Anything else you wish to add- I really love Olesya, she's an awesome character to play. And I know maybe the application doesn't show every aspect you might want, but ask questions and I'll answer them. And more importantly, if you give her the chance, she'd be developed well in the game.
Community Writing Sample Here you will write as if you were in a thread in the community. (If you followed all of the links in the profile like you should have, you’ll know what a thread is.) - It had been a busy week of auditions, not much luck so far, but that was OK. I knew that something would come up when the time was right. I was ok with taking things slowly and just letting it happen naturally. In fact, I had another meeting today. Back at Disney to talk about a small role in an episode of the new Jonas Brothers show.
Walking into the studios, I smiled. I always liked it here. Everyone was hanging around on the lot, and I walked over. I may not have a part yet, but no harm in introducing yourself, right?
I walked over slowly, smiling at people as I passed. A few of them knew me from around and waved as I went by. Walking towards the brothers, I smiled wider, probably a good idea to make an impression on the stars of the show. Might get me a better chance of the part in the episode. When I was almost beside them, I slipped on a pebble, stumbling forward into one of them, sending them flying backwards towards the ground. Managing to correct myself, I turned red. 'Oh my God, how stupid am I?' was what ran through my head right then. I looked down at the scowling boy on the ground and looked apologetic
"Oops?"
Journal Writing Sample- So today, I've had an entire day to myself, do just do what I wanted. I considered going for a hike, but instead, I decided to take a run down the beach. I don't do it often, but when I do, I always enjoy it. I stopped at a little deserted cove, and just sat for a while and watched the waves. It was so relaxing. You know, life in LA is so much hustle and bustle, there's always something to be done or somewhere to go. It's rare that you just get to sit, relax and enjoy some simple beauty, like the waves in the ocean. It's nice sometimes.
Not that I'm complaining about the life I have though. I'm not as busy as some of the guys I work with, who are always at one audition or another, or jetting off to, I think Zac is in Sydney right now? I mean, it's amazing to see so many places. But you never get a second to yourself. But I suppose that's lucky too. It's a strange life to try and explain. But I'm sure you all know that!
