A few things before you dig into this application.. since I already wrote an app for Zac back in the day, some of the things I didn't rewrite (family life, hometown, etc) so everything that's from the original application is in italics. Everything that's new is in normal font. Also, this bitch is ridiculously long. Sorry. Happy reading if you even want to bother.

THE CHARACTER:

Name: Zachary David Alexander Efron (aka Zac Efron aka Zefron)

Age: 21

Appearance: oh herro

Likes:
Zac has a monumental respect and appreciation for James Dean. He is basically who he aspires to be- nix the dying young in a car crash thing. He loves the respect he gained and the seriousness he brought to his roles. Even though Zac started and got his name in Disney, he wants to be able to move forward and be an actor that can be timeless and go down in history like James. He feels like he can relate to him as far as the passionate side of acting goes. He has all of Dean’s movies and a poster of him in his living room. He really is Zac’s inspiration with acting.

Road trips are hands down one of Zac’s favorite things to do. Actually, it’s not even limited to the road. He can take to the sky or the sea at a moment’s notice and love every second of it. He loves to be able to get away from Los Angeles and it’s usually what he’ll do when he needs to clear his mind. When he goes on those trips he’ll sometimes go alone but other times he wants company. He won’t bring the charger for his phone and lets the battery run out whenever it runs out. He always has maps and GPS but never uses them, he wants to follow his instincts and be able to turn left or right without someone or something telling him what to do. It gives him a distinct sense of control in his life and he loves that.

It can sort of be tied in with his love for road trips but Zac loves being spontaneous. He’s really into living in the moment and doing what he wants when he feels like doing it. He’s not afraid to run off to Vegas with a toothbrush in his pocket and nothing else and wake up somewhere he’s never seen. He wants to absorb everything he can and knows that these are probably the best years of his life so he shouldn’t waste it being too serious or spending too much time waning over plans and decisions.

Zac’s favorite way to relax is a simple one- get stoned. He’s a total reefer and takes at least a few hits every day just to take the edge off. He’s tried some harder things but basically sticks to his weed. He’s been known to deal a little here and there but he’s basically just a consumer.

Fetish might be too strong of a word but Zac absolutely loves underwear. No, not girls’ underwear. He could care less about frilly panties and thongs. I’m talking boxer briefs. Instead of just having a top drawer for underwear and socks, he has an entire dresser full of them. He doesn’t like to wear the same pair twice, except for his lucky ones- a pair of orange, yes orange, Hanes boxer briefs he wears on every audition he goes to. Call him superstitious but he’s a pretty successful 21 year old is he not?

General likes: serious relationships, action movies, old movies, the taste of amoxicillin, Starbucks, riding the subway, cuddling.

Dislikes:
Stereotypes piss Zac off more than a lot of things, probably because he is so largely affected by them. He hates racial, economic, physical, and geographic based stereotypes even if those aren’t the ones that he is most afflicted by. He thinks is bullshit that anyone can judge someone else just by what they assume the person represents. People judge Zac all the time for being an actor who sings and dances and even within the industry he has been type-casted as such. He’s an individual, just like everyone else on the planet, and believes that should be largely recognized. Anyone who stereotypes is dead in his book.

As someone who is excessively blessed in life, Zac really hates when people take things for granted. Living in Los Angeles and being surrounded by people who live the good life, it makes him furious to see them bitching about their lives. Everyone has their issues, but he can guarantee the woes of LA’s elite aren’t worth the whining and bitching that they give. He knows he is better off than the majority of the people in this world and he tries his best not to take that for granted. He appreciates what he has and thinks it’s despicable when people don’t. He’s come across people while doing charity work that have next to nothing and still are grateful for the tiny things that they have. A lot of people need a wake up call and if he knew how to give them one, he would.

Paparazzi can get the fuck out of Zac’s life. He’s really not that exciting of a guy. Walking inside the gym or Robeks to get a smoothie is something he’s fully capable of doing on his own. He doesn’t need chaperones in the form of shutterbugs. He can go a while without them around then all of a sudden they’ll be all over him like a fly on shit. And they’re rude too. He probably wouldn’t mind so much if they weren’t shouting things at him and throwing Q-tips at him because there was one unfortunate picture taken when he hadn’t cleaned his ears and losers have nothing better to do with their lives than zoom in and find flaws on public figures. He understands it comes with the territory and it’s inevitable but if they respected him he wouldn’t be so aggravated by them.

Zac has a room in his house completely devoted to housing his huge collection of books. Has he read more than five of the hundreds in there? Absolutely not. His parents had always thought he loved to read since he was always buying books when he was a young teenager so they just kept buying him more and more until he accumulated this epic collection. In all actuality he bought those books when he was younger so he could hide his porn stashes behind them. All in all, he hates reading.

What the hell is wrong with monkeys? Zac wants to know. They’re creepy as fuck to him. He finds absolutely nothing adorable or endearing about them. They’re hideous and they have weird hair and just… ew? He’s all for a trip to the zoo but don’t take him near the monkey cages. It’s not that he’s afraid of them, he wouldn’t go running and screaming away from them, he’d probably just end up throwing something at them and shouting angrily. Nothing makes Zac Efron quite as furious as when he’s thinking about monkeys.

General dislikes: horror movies, liars, cuckoo clocks, dream sequences in movies, carbonation in soda.

Family Life:
Growing up, Zac had a typical family life. His parents were happily married. He would always watch football on Sundays (Vikings- holler!) with his dad- it was their father-son time… before he moved to LA. His little brother Dylan always looked up to him which Zac loved. That is, until he started to really become successful in Hollywood. Zac drifted from his younger brother, or more like Dylan pushed Zac away. He wanted nothing to do with his big brother’s public successes. He didn’t want to look up to someone who had centerfolds in Tigerbeat and Popstar. He hardly even spoke to Zac when he would come home on breaks from shooting. Zac couldn’t help but resent his career for putting such a wedge between who used to be his best friend. As Zac’s success grew, naturally the less normal of a life he was able to have. His parents always kept him updated on everything that was going on in Dylan’s life: he was living the typical American teenager life- something Zac never really got to do. As a result, Zac started to resent his brother more than his career. They are currently estranged.

Disney Relation:
For a time it could be argued that Zac Efron was the face of Disney, and perhaps still is. Zac was the front man of the project that essentially launched Disney Channel into a world it had never known before. Boasting ratings that no other TV movie had ever attained, High School Musical was an instant hit that shot Zac into Disney’s center ring. Portraying Troy Bolton in the mega-hit High School Musical, Zac secured his spot as the All American poster boy for Disney. While Zac’s vocals aren’t even the ones used in his first DCOM, he was still brought on press junkets all over the world to promote the film and teach everyone that classic We’re All In This Together dance. He abstained from joining his cast on a national tour after the success of High School Musical to pursue a role in another musical (Hairspray) but triumphantly returned for the sequel where his own vocals were used and his dancing skills were a bit more up to snuff. Following the monstrous success in the first two films, he has recently hit the big screen in the threequel.

Zac has also appeared as a guest actor on The Suite Life of Zac and Cody alongside HSM alum Ashley Tisdale. He also portrayed a hunky lifeguard on an episode of the animated series The Replacements. In 2006 Zac was the pioneer captain of the Red Team on the Disney Channel Games where he also claimed the title MVP for his team.

Hometown:
Zac was born in San Luis Obispo and raised in Arroyo Grande, California. Located almost directly between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Zac had always enjoyed the feeling of being in his own area but having easy access to cities. Moving down to LA was a big change for him, one he didn’t think he’d like. It was temporary for a while; he only rented an apartment, always planning on moving back home. As time went on he realized how much the LA lifestyle fit his needs. That or he fit LA’s needs. Either way, he settled in and made the Los Angeles area his new home.

Originality:
Just like before, Zac is sick and tired of being labeled as that singing and dancing kid from the hit Disney movie. He still appreciates Disney as his launching pad and high school so to speak but he’s moving through college now and heading into the real world. He wants to move away from the ears and into more mature and challenging roles. He still maintains the belief that acting is what he does, not who he is. He’s sick of being associated with sunshine and rainbows and isn’t going to try to cover up who he is anymore just for an image. He’s growing up and he’s not going to apologize for that.

On his latest press junket for 17 Again he has been completely himself, shedding the skin of a squeaky clean imaged Disney starlet. He’s swearing in interviews, telling stories that Mickey probably wouldn’t approve of, and being straight up honest and legitimate. It feels incredible to him to not have to hold back or hide things. He’s just been released of his Disney reins for the most part and he definitely wants to test his wings.

He was recently able to host SNL which was huge for him. While they had him poking fun at himself it was an essential stepping stone for him. He’s excited but scared to take the leap into this unknown world of this industry since he’s always been fairly protected by the cushy walls of Disney. He has outgrown that though and is ready to move forward with his life. He moved out of the apartment we last saw him in and has made the tremendous purchase of a large Los Angeles home. He’s still maintaining an inner struggle of transitioning into adulthood and feels like he’s playing house more than actually being an adult.

Relationships:
When we last saw Zac he was making some futile attempts to be one of those guys. You know, the guys that go out to clubs and bring home some random girl for a one night stand. Ones that gets pussy and don’t take names or numbers. It was a big deal for Zac because that’s not like him. He has always tied himself down into relationships and was the butt of all of his buddies’ jokes because he was always the ball and chain guy. He liked it though, he wasn’t complaining… with the exception of when his girlfriends cheated or dumped him. That’s why he made the decision to try to go sleep around and see what all the fuss was about. Well, it turns out he still doesn’t get what the fuss is about. He made his rounds the best way he could and he hated it. He didn’t hate the sex, that was great, but he hated how he felt just taking off after it never to see the girl again. Some guys are built for that, Zac just isn’t. He likes being in a relationship. He likes being able to treat the girl he is with like she’s a queen and being able to spoil them. He likes having someone to dote on and he likes having someone that he can count on. Someone who cares about him and will stand by him. Someone who is willing to hop on the red eye to Vegas with a few minutes’ notice. He’s just a commitment sort of guy and, try as he might, there’s no changing that.

As far as friendships go, Zac will never take for granted the friends and family of sorts that Disney has brought him. Ashley Tisdale is obviously someone that he is close with and who has shared in a lot experiences that no one else could understand. Their bond is special because they rode the same rocket to fame. When Zac was living in Valencia and friends with Ashley, he met Sam Droke. They have been friends ever since and she is someone who is carefree and fun enough for Zac to love spending his time with. As we saw in previous development with Zac, he really gets along well with Joe. Even though his views on romantic relationships have changed and Joe was really encouraging of the have-as-much-ass-as-you-can lifestyle, there is a deeper friendship there. Matt and Jemma are obvious friendships with Zac. Even though they jumped onto the High School Musical phenomenon a bit late, they were there just in time to see Zac transitioning out of it. They were there for a huge time in his life. When Zac guest-starred on the Suite Life he obviously got to know Dylan and Cole a good amount in addition to the time that he would spend on set just hanging out with Ashley. They aren’t exceptionally close but he’s comfortable with both of them. Raviv is someone that Zac has encountered on a few occasions and he really digs the guy for his love of weed, just like him. I think a good relationship could develop there. When Zac in New York City doing press and taking his first tours of the SNL set he ran into Selena and Lucy who were in town visiting the set of Gossip Girl. They were both staying in Trump and spent a morning having breakfast together and exchanged numbers.

Overall, Zac really appreciates all of his friendships. He has a lot of them, some of them obviously closer than others. That’s the way he likes it though. He has his core group of friends but having more friends scattered around allows him to bounce from here to there and experience it all.

Anything else you wish to add:
I really enjoyed the way I used to play Zac and I want to revive that and bring it back better than it was. I think I have a better handle on the community at this point and that I’ve set up relationships with him that he can grow from and be more interactive with. I really don’t think my playing of Lucy will suffer from bringing on another character, especially one that I’m familiar with. Ask any other questions you want though.

Community Writing Sample:
Things have been totally and completely insane lately. The press junket I was sent out on for 17 Again was unlike anything Disney had ever kicked me into. This was actually fun. I got to sit in interviews and not question whether what I really wanted to say was appropriate; I could just say whatever came to mind. That’s not necessarily the best method but it’s the first time I was able to do it so I relished in it. I literally circled the globe then got to do the most badass thing imaginable- I hosted Saturday Night Live. God, that was fucking awesome. Everyone wanted to hear about it but the one guy who wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it was Joe. He showed up at the premiere with his brothers and he insisted on me giving him the whole lowdown on it. I guess he had been the musical guest a few weeks ago and did a few skits but he wanted to know what the whole hosting gig was about. I was down with that, I had to catch up with him anyway.

We agreed to hook up at Starbucks so we could swap stories. When I had asked him where Chelsea was at the premiere he got this dark look in his eyes and grumbled something I couldn’t even understand. There had to be a story there and I was itching to pull it out of him. I hadn’t gotten to talk to people much lately since I had been working my ass off but now I had some time to relax and I had to catch up.

Walking into Starbucks I kept my beanie and sunglasses on. I never wanted to look like one of those douchebag celebs who was obvious about hiding their identity but truth be told I was a little hungover and even the lights inside were irritating. Joe wasn’t there yet so I went to the counter and ordered an iced coffee for myself. My order was up and he still wasn’t there so I took it upon myself to snag some seats. There were plenty open by the window but the sunlight was too damn bright so I opted for some of those oversized chairs that they shove in the back corner where it’s dark. Perfect.

I don’t know what the fuck took him so long but he finally showed up with two tweens on his heels, pointing and giggling. He looked thoroughly annoyed and I didn’t blame him. Couldn’t a guy get some coffee in peace? I watched as he politely took some smug pictures then got a drink and scanned the shop for me. I put my hand up so he could see me and he nodded, heading my way. Joe really got me and I was lucky to have a no-bullshit bud from the Disney inside. I stood up when he walked over and gave him a bro-hug, “What’s up dude, long time no speak.”

Journal Writing Sample:
You know what I think would be sick? Going on an RV trip. Legit, that would be so badass… like, driving around in your home and going wherever the fuck you want. Staying in those RV camps and meeting the people who do it full time. What a way to see the country, ya know? Just taking your time and not running on fast forward for once. I’d totally want one of those sweet pimped out ones though that are like 50 feet long. I bet musicians would bitch about it being like you’re on tour but I’m not a rockstar so shit like that isn’t lost on me. If I ever had a month to do absolutely nothing with my life, I think that’s what I’d do. No maps, no agenda, just driving around wherever I damn well pleased.

Oh, and I’d probably pick up every hitchhiker I saw. Dudes have probably got some cool stories.
