7 Spring Things: #4 "Summerbike"

Apr 07, 2013 13:16

With the kind permission of the talented, creative, and colortastic hrymfaxe, I can present Spring Thing #4…

The most amazing thing is, I don't even think this is the best of what she's shared on her journal.

I know it's called "Summerbike," and with the deep richness of the colors that suggests contentment and lazy exploration I can see why. But something about the light and the intricate detailwork also just call spring to me. The intimacy and the strange path they are on are also very spring. Most of all, the brightness of the thumbnail made it seem new and exciting:

Though I admit that I had forgotten how deep and rich those colors are.

During gifting season, this gorgeousness inspired me to string this together. Which, in retrospect, all about spring and new hope:

The Song of the Sun That Rolls Like a Wheel

How many times does the universe rotate
On a perfect day? How many spokes
Hold careless peace together?
Tomorrow we’ll run the numbers.
Beads are falling from your shirt.
Going home we’ll pave ‘em in the ground, maybe.

You sane, sane thing. Sun-sister.
You sane, sane thing, sometimes sober!
Skillful, sureful,
Snapdragon-surgeon with snapping eyes,
Extractor of the rose from my throat!
I pay you back by putting laughter in yours.

I, late liberated, ex-lunatic,
I, bundle of Technicolor wind in a T-shirt!
Trade you.
I give you a little of soap in the sun
For a smidge of your rose in the rain,
And we merge into something gorgeous together.

Who wants to fly? We pack our tracks
Into the dirt, the sun-soaked earth.
When I ride smooth as petals it’s for us,
When I fly over-the-handlebars, nose-in the-mud,
That’s for us too. We’ll stay grounded-
The earth, the paths and the not-paths!

There’s no thirst in a romp,
And capers never hunger.
Let’s race from here to the sun
(And when you win I’ll race you back!)
Tremble the night, for you hang on our whim,
And we’re a bit shameless about ancient rites, today.

So, in conclusion, I hope all the snow has at least melted, so now we're all on the same page. ;)
