OH GOD. I need to have my wisdom teeth out, and I am TERRIFIED. Not just for how much it will hurt (pain I can deal with) but how much it will cost! I don't want to spend all my money on having my teeth out. (And I definitely do want all the nitrous gas and painkillers that make these sort of procedures bearable, and which really jack up the price of a procedure.)

Le sigh. Anyway! How are you? It's good to see you! How's tricks?

Yeah, I put it off till I got insurance (hadn't been to the dentist before this year since I was 16!), and I finally lucked out -- got off with less than a $200 tab, even with laughing gas and prescription.

I'm sorry that I don't think insurance is in the near future on your end, though have you looked into installment options? Maybe with parental help? (My mom can't help with that sort of thing, and I didn't want to ask the in-laws, but in retrospect...) Because apparently putting it off makes it suck. (Doc was kind enough to give me this lecture three times, once during the actual surgery as he's pulling out the worst tooth. Great bedside manner on his part. But I'm not bitter, no sir.)

Tricks are otherwise good! Really busy this year teaching, but I seem to be surviving, and my boss is super supportive (bless her), and the stress feels worthwhile when it's for TEH KIDZ. How about you?

I was just thinking of you and wondering how you are! Good to hear that at least the time was well spent relaxing. it's amazing what a little enforced rest will do, isn't it?

I was wondering how you were, myself. Better or worse on the cold front?

Better after having gotten much worse. Incapacitating fever on Saturday, more energy yesterday but then vomiting got added into the mix. Took my daughter to the doctor for her annual checkup today, only to discover that despite my breezy, "oh she's fine! in perfect health!", she actually had strep throat. So while I had her Rx filled, I went to the MinuteClinic for myself to get a strep test done, where I was told that I had all the classic symptoms of the flu, and that I probably wouldn't feel better for another 10 days.

Yay.

But I don't have strep at least, and the nurse-practitioner said it's unlikely I will start to feel worse, only better -- unless I contract pneumonia, but at least it will be really obvious that I have pneumonia so there shouldn't be any of my usual dithering about whether I'm sick enough to go to the doctor!

Oh, oh, man. Yuck. Sorry about the flu -- keeping my fingers crossed for you that it runs through its course fast and that you keep feeling better -- and that it DOESN'T go to pneumonia! Hang in there. ♥

Your family just seems to have no luck during these cold seasons!

Glad you're doing (more or less) all right! Hope you can talk once you get back in the classroom...

Cool blues tracks. My local public radio station has a great folk/roots/world music show on weekend evenings, and the 11-12 hour (prime fic-writing time!) is given over to blues. Which I didn't think I liked, at first, but the style has definitely grown on me.

Speaking of euphemisms, how's this one? "My needle has got rusty, and it won't play at all" --?

Here are a couple more tracks from that same radio show (before 11:00, heh).

A modern self-styled "African-American string band" that's pretty popular on the folk-music circuit right now:

And I can't leave music links without some Celtic trad (although this is a little jazzed up, in a good way):

Late thanks is rather late, but I love the little-jazzed-up Celtic track!! (I am a complete sucker for any violin, and this is great.) Cheers!

*coughs* Fiddle. Please. "Violin" is for that classical music stuff.

;)

(I actually do like classical, too, for what it's worth!)

LOL. My apologies.

(I make an attempt every so often to acquire the taste for classical during commute. It doesn't last very long. Feel free to attempt a conversion in the future.)

I feel ya! Had mine out at 16, along with all my canine teeth before braces. So no fun (and now I can never be a vampire)! Hop you get feeling better soon!

That's why you have a cat-vampire icon, to make it up, I guess? ;)
