hello 2010!
now we're just 2 yrs away from the end of the world!
what to do? watch movies i guess.
Movies to watch this year (I realized my 2008 list had like 15 titles and my 2009 only 3...)
1. Clash of the Titans.
I have no idea why I'm always waiting for films with Sam Worthington. Seriously, it's so strange how he got all these huge parts in huge movies.
Oh yes Avatar was awesome as expected, and was totally worth the months of waiting and anticipation. Loved it. But was it better than T2? Don't think so. It doesn't have the killer Arnie-LHam-Efur combination...and as I was watching I kept thinking how much it resembled
a) The Last Samurai - I told friends who asked me what Avatar was about that it was The Last Samurai with aliens...which probably didn't do it any favours in terms of making people feel like watching it. But the buzz was enough :)
b) Pocahontas - whereby Neytiri = Pocahontas
c) Lost - whereby Jake = John Locke
But anyway, it's one of the top 5 movies of 2009 for me. With the rest being....Up (Ok i admit it. I'm a sucker for 3d movies) and An Education, which was simple, formulaic in some ways, but on the whole such a lovely, lovely film, Inglourious Basterds (Not as good as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but it's still Tarantino) and Two Lovers, which was awesome. And oh yeah, joaquin phoenix quitting acting was probably one of the great tragedies of 2009.

7. Alice in Wonderland
8. You will meet a tall dark stranger
9. The Expendables
10. The cabin in the woods

-Never Let Me Go & Wall Street 2. Only because of Carey Mulligan.
-Percy Jackson & Bunraku. Only because of Kevin Mckidd.
-Footloose. If I'm really bored.
What I don't want to watch
1. Wuthering heights if it gets released this year. WHY seriously WHY. I like Ed Westwick well enough as Chuck Bass, but Heathcliff is in an entirely different league. How can he compare to Olivier! How can Gemma Arterton compare to Merle Oberon? Michael Fassbender would at least have made a better choice for Heathcliff. Well at least he's playing Rochester now. That I will watch when it comes out in 2011.
