XFM Winter Wonderland Manchester

Dec 09, 2006 14:57

So after 6 hours of bands in Manchester last night, I'm pretty tired today.

- Got there in time to see the end of the band that won the rock school thingy, Billion Babies. Although, I went to the loo instead of watching them.
- Almost immediately after them were Mumm-ra (got through the first lot of bands quite quickly), who were.. ok. The name doesn't quite fit them though. They should be scarier.
- Little Man Tate had a big following in the crowd next to me. They were getting quite excited. I thought the band were quite good though.

gettin close..

- The Rakes were rather disappointing. Could hardly hear the vocals. They were better last time I saw them. :(
- Liam Frost (zzzzz..) and John Power played mini sets in between the bigger bands. This meant that all the other bands were miles away though, as they had a big gap at the front for this.
- Badly Drawn Boy was just.. boring really. I quite like his music, but I'm just not into seeing him live.
- The Magic Numbers were pleasant and sing-a-long-ish. Their songs seem to have many many endings though. You think its finished, but oh no, there's another bit.. hehe.
- The Manics weren't on till 11pm. Good job I didn't decide to get the train home then, or I'd be stranded in Manchester. We had giant snowballs/Muse-style balloons before the set (and crazy amounts of confetti afterward, hehe). They didn't last long. Everyone perked up at this point, guess it was a Manics crowd. Lots of singing along and jumping about, yay. A good mix of old stuff in the set too.
