I'm feeling good about stuff. I have two more days of work (tomorrow and Monday) and I'll be in Baños for the weekend. I have a feeling that I might...
a) Get a massage
b) Rent a FOUR WHEELER!!!
c) Do lots more bungee jumping
d) Eat good, cheap Italian food.
e) Soak in thermal baths at ungodly hours.
So yeah... I'm pretty pumped. When I get back I will have four more full days, then I fly to Costa Rica on the 15th. I'm not at all prepared or excited for saying goodbyes, and there will be lots of them. I'll miss my host family loads, and the same goes for the kids in the program. It's amazing how close quarters can create tight friendships.
There are also things I won't miss... namely, living in the heart of city of 2 million people. I will not miss being crushed every morning on the bus by people with questionable hygiene. I will not miss the pollution that is visible in large black clouds almost all the time. I will not miss the men who just piss in the street or the park or wherever they feel like it... today in El Ejido, I stood in one spot and was able to see 5 separate men pissing. At 2 in the afternoon. I won't miss that.
But the list of things I will miss trumps that of stuff I won't. Easily. I've had such a good time here... it's been at the same time the most challenging and most rewarding experience of my entire life.
But Christmas in Montana will be nice... especially after a week on a picturesque Costa Rican beach. Cocktails anyone?
