Well, most of them we've already assimilated in this country. By golly, I wish someone would do something about the semi-colon and ellipsis next....

But semicolon and ellipses do have their functions; it would be counterproductive to be rid of them...

oh one more thing - the OED changes depending on usage in the language itself - the grammar freaks didn't decide to change it, the people who speak the language already have. And all but one or two of the words listed were already that way in American English.

Well, dictionaries are only reflections of actual language. What they often control is when exactly a word/word usage is legitimized.

Hmm, yes, they both have their functions, but those have been almost lost in the plethora of abuse and misuses.
