Thoughts on 9.19

So, after a brief hiatus in due to my anger at Spike leaving, I started reading Season 9 again. It was just too hard not knowing what the gang was up to.

It makes sense that Dawn would die since Buffy destroyed magic. I'm surprised this didn't occur to me (or anyone else) earlier.

Xander and Buffy's fight?...wow. Pretty intense. And I hate to say it, but I almost agree with Xander, even though I'll admit that Buffy makes some good points. This scene was very in character for Xander, but Buffy's attitude seems, well, almost too confident. Buffy seems mighty sure that she can save Dawn. What if she can't? Could she handle that? Thoughts?

I definitely suspected that Xander resented Buffy - maybe always will - for the whole Angel thing. I fear that she damaged her relationship with Xander in ways that can't be repaired. Her involvement with Angel - whether voluntary or not - directly caused Giles' death, and now it might cause Dawn's, too. Bad news bears.

And finally, I really, really love this line;

"It always starts with you trying to save the world, Buffy. But that doesn't change the fact that every time you save it... somehow the world just keeps getting worse."

I'll bet there have been many times where Buffy has felt the hopelessness of what she does; no matter how many vampires she kills, there will always be more. Nevertheless, it was harsh.
