It's official.

So, it's official. I have diabetes.

This means that I need to make a commitment to low carb eating and excercising.

Lunch & dinner are easy enough: Meat + 2 veggies instead of one veggie and a starch. A lot of our fall back meals are pasta-based, though, and I'm not quite sure what to do about that. Dreamfields pasta is better for that, but that doesn't solve the problem. More dinner salads, I guess. Lunch is leftovers or a salad - there's bunches of stuff I'll eat on a salad: leftover meat, coldcuts (turkey/roastbeef/cheese), hard boiled egg, tuna, ricotta.

Breakfast is the hardest main meal. I've been eating these frozen breakfast sandwiches, but I'm not happy with them, due to how processed they are. I tried yogurt & berries, but it doesn't hold me, which is WEIRD for plain, full fat yogurt. It should. PB&J on whole grain has been good - I can hold the "j" or swap it to waffle & peanut butter or other nut butters. I can make a quiche or mini-frittas in muffin cups if I plan ahead a bit.

Finally, excercise. I like the WII Fit for now. As long as I avoid the jogging (I hurt my foot jogging shoe-less, and it still hurts months later), it's good. Once I'm unlocked all of the various options it has, I plan to upgrade to the newer version of it, which has more excercices and will let you string things together. It's a mix of yoga, stregth, aerobics, and balance, so it's a good mix for me. I hate going out to a gym - it would be a waste of money and time for me at this point. My real problem is fitting it in, time-wise. I figure I'm doing something wrong that I can't even squeeze in 20 minutes of excercise, but I'm not sure what. Probably I'm just not trying hard enough. This month's Flylady habit is 15 minutes/day of excercise of some sort, so hopefully that will help push me. I know I feel good the next day, so that's a big incentive. Just do it, right?

I've got 3 months before the doc tests the blood sugar again. Time to get those numbers down.
