Fair Dinkum Flamingos Chapter 13

Nov 22, 2013 21:24

It's been a long time since I uploaded any kind of story. The last time I updated my OWBC was the 23rd Aug, 2011. *ouch* But I've been feeling guilty for always going past some of these old families to go play other hoods or to build, and I do love them, I just lost the motivation to write them up. The OWBC was always the easiest to upload seeing ( Read more... )

Jo, you're so quick. I saw you had left a comment just as I was heading for bed.

I rather like how he looks on that 'broom stick'. Never too sure what I should call that thing. So he will definitely be keeping the hat.

Oh goodness, I had forgotten that was a Seasons requirement. If my foggy memory is correct, I think Fuzzy completed that when the kids had gone to uni. Lots of very healthy cucumbers and things and not many sims.

I'll put her clone over into my self sustaining hood, which is how I play now. Not sure what roll she will play, but I'll think of something. I'll make sure to get her married and give her kids.

I love them together. I wish Rolley was more a part of it, but he and Holley are always stuck together like glue.

Paddington is my favourite Holley-Rolley child. :) While Coal is my favourite alien. Although they are all great in their own way.

Rolley and Holley neglect all their kids in favour of stalking each other and starving. I can't remember if they have 3 bolts from the BC, but they act like it.

Catching all those poor butterflies and creepy spiders is something I don't really want to do again! But at least I can say I have done it.

Thanks for commenting. :)

edit for spelling:Because one cup of morning coffee just isn't enough.

I think that it's because of the Australia and Portugal time zones - there is an overlap in waking hours for both of us (that doesn't happen with Portugal and USA time zones, not sure about Australia and USA). :) I saw your comment on my LJ and then your new chapter, immediately went to read it and wrote a comment as I read it. That was around midday my time.

Getting the wishing well might be easier after you have at least one sim with a gold gardening badge, I suppose. Nisha rolled the want to call the Garden Club folks over to inspect her garden a while back, they complained about the flamingos but still made her a member. No one in the house had their gardening badge at gold level then (both Cody and Nisha have now), so it could help a lot with improving the plants' health, etc, the next time I call them over (Nisha has even rolled a want to get a perfect score for her garden, I guess she wants that well as much as I do). Not too much I can do about the flamingos, though.

Aww, so she will have a happy ending eventually. That's good to know. :)

Yes, those two are adorable, but I also like Oz, Beverly, Paisley and Clover from what I've seen of them. But I do like Paddington and Coal better as well (at least so far, I'm probably voting for one of them in the heir poll). You were very lucky with Coal's genetics considering you have the Maxis PT, sometimes things go wonky even when the other parent of the alien kid(s) is a good-looking sim like Rolley.
And I guess your OWBC family tree just got a bit tangled with Kali and her brother (can't remember his name, you know, the alien son Blyth had later on) being half-siblings to Olinda's stepson, and now to Clover & Coal, who are also cousins to Kali and her little brother, since Rolley is their first cousin. ;) Aliens can really mess up those family trees.

Rolley and Holley make a great couple, but having them be so stalky on 8 commands a day each seems dangerous when they seem to forget to do anything but interact with each other. I guess Peach is there to save them from themselves, though. I'd say they do have 3 bolts...I remember everyone in the BC had lots of bolts with Rolley, and yes, they act so much like it.

I posted at about 10.30 pm my time which is probably early morning for the US. Interesting to know you were at mid day.

Those garden plants were at very healthy level from Peach talking to them, so I am sure it is how many of those verses how many 'trash piles' you have. But when your kids leave for uni you can take away the flamingos giving you more of a chance of a well.

You know I hadn't thought too much on how all those aliens are related but you're right. Blyth's alien kids would have the same poly tech father as Coal and Clover. Okay that doesn't bare thinking about too much! O_o

I do love them as a couple, the whole I am starving in unison thing was very funny. But darn it I have to find them things they can't leave so easily. So the violin will be swapped for a piano. I have a one tile one that should fit. I did use a days commands giving them a date and drinking elixcer, that as probably the day they both said they were starving.

I did check my messages and replied to the comment you left on my LJ before heading here, so it must have been a little while after you actually posted the chapter. I guess we have a 10-hour difference between timezones, then. (I remember that the timezone difference was also around 10 hours when my mother and sister went to Australia in July, but there are quite a few timezones there, right? Three or four? We only have the one, with our tiny country. :D)

I kept the flamingos around when Olive and Oil were at college (they had extra flamingos there). I recently had the Garden Club over again - Nisha had just been taking care of the plants and talking to them, but they were still snobby and gave it a "good" score because of the flamingos. I might have to try to get a better score when this generation's kids are at college if this keeps happening until then.

Aliens make the family trees super weird...it's better when you have a default replacement with multiple PTs, then you can have a sim have one alien kid (or more) with one PT, and one of the sims' relatives then have one or more alien children via a different one, that way the tree doesn't get all tangled up. (Though my sims tend to be abducted by one of the 4 PTs - brown-haired one, I have the TreyNutz replacement - much more often than by any of the other 3.)

Some (well, most) sims just can't take care of themselves when left alone, and those musical instruments are the worst. I swear I've had sims starve to death because of them (or because of other entertainment items). It's particularly bad to have that happen in asylums when your controllable sim is at work...fortunately, Rolley and Holley are luckier in that aspect. :)

I did think about getting a muliti pt pack, but ever since learning it has to be removed very carefully or it causes corruption I went just with a default. Although the Maxis PT is the father of all of them here.

I think I will remove my no plumbob mod as well, otherwise I'll only have their portraits to go by. As it is now, Holley never stays long at the violin. I made sure not to have an exercise bike as those things are lethal. There is a warm up bar but it doesn't appear to get overused.

Most of them are perma plat except for Holley and the kids from two genie lamps. I think that helps a lot in how they look after themselves.

I've had mine in game for a couple of years now. No reason to complain about the resulting kids (interesting genetics all around), and it hasn't caused any sort of trouble. Though there are plenty of good defaults around, multiple PTs or not, it's a question of taste, mainly - I'm still happy with the one I got, so I don't plan on changing it (at least anytime soon). :)

My sims love to go play outside in winter, or have water balloon fights, or stargaze, until they almost freeze to death. Do yours do that as well? My ATOR kids do it all the freaking time, with the ghosts around and all, I've had some heirs a little too close to death than I'd like. The OWBC sims have been luckier so far. Overheating is less of a problem with them, thankfully.

Oh, so that's a good thing - no FT or AL in my game, so they can only get permaplat the old fashioned way. Or get a temporary boost into platinum via the strawberry lemonade. (Well, all except bad apples.)

Because I set this in outback Australia there is no winter, but two summers-which is why I am having to be so careful with the overheating and the bad apple. The sooner they are all teens the better.

I usually find bad apples to great until teening. But both Rolley and Opal are permaplat from the genie lamp. Otherwise dates are great for Holley, even though I used up all of the days commands it was worth it.

Mine seem to prefer snow ball fights in the winter, or building snowmen.
