We have been doing a lot of talking over at Leefish and from what Boiling Oil says this Hug is more insidious and widespread than people realize.
Quote: "Uninstalling and reinstalling *could* fix your issue, but it also means you must completely abandon all backups of all your existing hoods, and also any custom lots you have in your lots and houses bin."
Quote: "The problem is that the Super Hug is an EA debug tool, a BHAV in the objects.package. There is some register somewhere that remembers if this BHAV (or the replacement in case of the Kiss Cheek mod, for example) is used. When you then disable or remove that mod, the game will use the fallback (the Super Hug) instead. And it will remain to do so, unless you start over completely."
He recommends everybody should have a fix in at all times and that it should never be removed. So doing a 50/50? Make sure you keep a fix in place.
The only way to ensure you never develop this bug is to
A] Never install any kind of social mod and
B]never install a lot
unless you have a fix in place before doing so. If you have the fix in you can safely use any mod or lot.
If you have the hug and apply the fix, this only fixes your own game. if you share a lot you share the bug.
I'm now looking into AGS as it's been said this may be a way to share lots safely so long as no existing hoods or lots are in that game.
All fixes came about because the creator originally uncounted the Super Hug. They then fixed their mod to kill this hug off. Each mod is safe to use to keep this forming in your own game.

If you never share lots then this isn't so important. If you ever develop the bug you can put in a fix and it will deal with the problem.
