...will not be moving.

So, we spent all weekend reconsidering whether or not we want to move, and it came down to it not really being worth it. Rent, while being $1100 a month, would have been more like $1200 after the $70 a month for one parking space and also having to pay all the utilities. So, when we started thinking of all the things we could do to our own apartment with an extra $400 a month, the possibilities are almost endless. For one, we would actually have money to go out and do stuff, where as right now we always feel guilty for spending money we shouldn't, and then end up trying to figure out what we're going to have for dinner. Now, we'd have money to have fun with, we'd be able to buy new dishes instead of keeping our 1 dinner plate and 8 mismatched lunch plates.

We're going to get a grill, and the deck is going to look awesome with new plants in the planters. I'm going to finally finish the last 3 planters that never got the finish coating on them, so this year they'll actually get plants. We're really excited about deck. Well, I'm really excited about the deck, and I'm pretty sure Jason is just about as excited as I am. One planter, the one that will be next to the grill, is going to be a cacti garden. And Jason's got a hanging planter that he's going to plant a pepper plant in. Possibly jalapeño, but possibly a chilli pepper instead. We're going to make at least 2 planters bunny gardens that we can take off the railings and put on the deck for them to dig around in and chew on, and 2 will have these beautiful Gerbera daisies that we saw at Costco (if they still have them). Maybe we'll plant sunflowers again in the last planter. And I want to get another tomato plant to put in the big pot we bought for just that purpose a couple years ago. We never did end up eating any of the tomatoes, though. I was never sure when they were ripe enough, and I didn't keep track of the days like I was supposed to. So this year I want to make a calendar, or a garden journal or something, and keep track of all this.

The deck is going to be so awesome. Can you tell I'm excited about the deck? And we're going to get new lights to string around it, and I'm thinking some paper lanterns, too.

We moved the furniture around some (we moved the couches) and it's almost like we moved. I'm looking forward to our new and improved apartment. Maybe we'll get the deck finished this weekend. Well, probably not finished since I've got to put the finish on the planters and they'll have to dry, but we'll get a nice head start on it!

We're a little bummed about not moving into TP, but not that bummed. I'm a little bummed that I won't be living right off the entrace/exit to the express lanes since that's what I take to and from work everyday, but it's not a big deal. And sadly, we did not get our deposit back. We finally decided to just suck it up and agree that we wanted to stay and go tell the people that we wouldn't be taking the apartment yesterday. Yesterday morning was also the day that we got approved for the apartment. So we got there about 12:30, told them we wouldn't be able to move in and after talking for a minute the guy said, "okay, hang on just a minute." He popped his head in an office and I heard him say, "she just left for the bank, didn't she?" So we missed our deposit by about a half hour. It's kind of irritating, but they told us when we put the deposit down that it was nonrefundable. Just irritating because if we had just gone in the day before, we'd have $250 that we could use to buy a grill. :P But, doing all of this really put us in a different frame of mind on the apartment, so it's good in the long run.

Instead of a moving party, we're going to have a staying put party. :D Jason said we should have one (which I fully agreed with) and then quoted Mitch Hedberg.

Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier'n helpin' 'em move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load shit into a truck.
