Room 332 - Thursday Evening

After running into Raven in the park and possibly getting a dog, Joan had made a trip to the pet store to pick up supplies and was now sprawled out on the floor, playing with Anahata.

She had handwavily called Liir and asked him to stop by with Makejoy so they could see if the two dogs would get along

Liir had been nearly inseparable from Makejoy after he'd retrieved her from the hardware store. The man there had been friendly, of course, but he still had felt terrible that his dog had stayed with someone he didn't even know for many days and thus he'd been spoiling her terribly.

So when Joan called...

"She's got a pup of her own, Makie, so no acting jealous," he told her as he knocked on the door. Makejoy waited at Liir's feet dutifully, but it was obvious from her pose that she wanted to peek out and meet the new arrival.

Joan looked up from the floor and made sure she had a hold of Anahata's collar. "You guys can come in," she said. "This is Anahata. Raven named him."

Liir wasn't quite sure what that had to do with anything but Makejoy padded in along with Liir, sniffing loudly. He leaned down and ruffled her ears with one hand. Makejoy was wagging her tail and giving all signs of playful interest.

Anahata sniffed curiously at the new dog in the room but didn't seem to mind so much. Joan relaxed her hold on his collar and reached over to scritch Makejoy's head with her other hand.

"Has she forgiven you for going away yet?" she asked lightly.

"She forgave me. I haven't quite forgiven Mr. Tennant," he said, cross about the whole matter still.

Makejoy padded forward and went for a bit of butt-sniffing.

Joan wrinkled her nose at the dogs but was okay as long as they weren't gonna fight.

"What happened anyway?" she asked. "Did you find out why he asked that other guy to keep her?"

"Because he went to Dubai," he told her as Makejoy sniffed thoughtfully. When she was done, it was back to play gestures.

"I don't even know where Dubai is. And I suppose she did well enough with the other man as he has a dog as well."

"Oh. I think it's in India or something," Joan said. She had no clue. "It's... far away. Why did he go there?"

She was keeping an eye on Anahata, who seemed okay with the idea of playing with Makejoy. After all, he was used to having lots of dogs around.

Makejoy had been with Clooney the last few days, so she too was used to other dogs.

"I don't know. I didn't ask. I just told him I'd see him next week."

She nodded. "Guess it doesn't really matter anyway."

Anahata decided he was done getting to know Makejoy and laid back down on the floor.

"Looks like they're getting along okay."

"One of the books I read when I first got Makejoy told me that if they're kind of ignoring one another, that's the best reaction you could want."

And true to form, Makejoy was flopping at Liir's feet again.

"Good," Joan said with a grin. "Want to hang out for a while?" she asked, standing up and moving over to sit on the bed, patting the spot next to her.

He was up and off the floor quickly enough, heading for the bed. The dogs seemingly settled, Liir made a place for himself quickly enough.

"I'm happy to hang out."

"I feel like I've hardly seen you this week," she said. "Are you settling back in after break?"

He nodded quickly, laying back on the bed.

"Been writing a few letters. They take ages, so I end up being a shut in while I'm working on it."

Joan tucked her feet up and leaned against him. "It's been a weird week. Drake was especially odd in class yesterday."
