Canon vs. Fanon
Canon: He serves as one of the boss characters in the game. When Leon Belmont encounters him in the Dark Palace of Waterfalls (or Labyrinth) area, Joachim hints that he fought with Walter Bernhard (yes, the Big Bad's name is Walter), the master of the castle, and has been imprisoned as punishment.
Description given on the official Japanese Konami website:
"A human who was made into a vampire by Walter. He harbors the ambition to defeat Walter and become the master of the castle. He freely wields five swords through great psychic power."
And needless to say, he isn't in sound mental health.
Castlevania Lament of Innocence, the game he comes from, is set in 1094. Joachim is already a vampire by then, and it seems that he has been for quite some time. This would make him at least 1000 years old by the year 2006, and possibly much older. His exact age is unknown, his apparent age is in the 20's to very early 30's range.
Fanon, aka my Joachim's info: Still to come. I'll focus on how he knows Alucard and attempt to explain how and why he exists here. ;)
