We recently bought a car. It was awful to not have transportation when we really needed it.
So, my wife's out of town. I do not drive. And I needed to take my degu to a vet. Well, the only one that deals with rodents is across town from me. (If you don't know what a degu is, it's kind of like a gerbil on steroids. Check out the site Degus.org)
Murphy's law... when you really have need of a car, you will not have one, even if you have gone into debt to buy one. Grrrr.
Anyway, on Monday morning, I bundled my degu into a box, called a taxi, paid $15 to take the stupid animal to the vet. (I paid $15 for the animal in the first place.) Dropped him off. Took the bus home ($2.25). A few hours later, I took the bus back across town ($2.25), talked to the vet, paid for the vet ($60. $60!! GAH!!!). Then another taxi ($15). Dumbass animal that I paid $15 dollars for ended up costing me $94.50 in one day.
"What happened that he needed to go to the vet?" you ask.... The moron took a kamikaze dive off of my wife's shoulder into the tv screen. Face first. Splat. Nothing spooked him... the tv was off... I suspect that he thought the reflective surface of the screen was a safe place to land. Little idiot.
So he was stunned, and we managed to get him into the cage again. He was bleeding a bit under his nose, but the rest of him looked intact on Wednesday night when this happened. So, late on Sunday night, I discovered his front incisors were broken right off. Now, chewing is everything to a rodent, so I was pretty upset; bawling like a baby and everything about this dumb animal.
But, anyway... he is fine, the vet said. He has a bit of tooth left which he can use to pick up food with, and all of his molar teeth are okay, so he can eat.
The funny thing about this? The degu is named "Chewie". Now, I call him "the Degu formerly known as "Chewie"". He looks like a hockey player with busted front teeth.
*shakes head* Stupid degu.
I feel like I need a drink. Sigh.
In other news, I have finished writing (the sequel? Chapter 2?) *shrug* a continuation of "Year of the Dog". I'm pretty stoked, seeing as how I rarely write anything with chapters or sequels, let alone finishing a fic. I don't know if it's that good, but ... meh. I'll pro'lly post it anyways. I wrote the first part in January! So, this is a continuation long expected.... I'll wait a bit on it, maybe post it sometime later.
